As I slip into my flame retardent firesuit, in my opinion people who feel the need to avail themselves of such services pay for what they get and get what they pay for. Which is usually a bit lighter in the wallet for a good feeling. For those who were called and promised a reading, for the most part those folks also got what they deserved for not having the good sense to hang up in the first place.

Dousing myself with fresh flame retardent chemicals, even the people who got so flaming PO'ed at Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker for ripping them off, actually got something in return for their donations, until it was made public that they had been duped. Those folks really believed they were doing a good service for someone and they were, just it wasn't the folks they had figured were receiving benefit. They all received a good feeling about themselves for being such a nice and benevolent individual. Is there anything inherently wrong with making folks feel good about themselves? So long as the truth never surfaces, or the purveyors of such are truthful from the get go I would say not!

I will agree that in both scenarios, it was nothing more than a scam, and scams are inherently illegal, but the alleged victims of said scams cannot claim they did not receive something of value in return for their money. I think Dave Ramsey calls it "Paying the Stupid Tax!" I'd have to say that I have paid my share of "Stupid Tax" but the last time was a long, long time ago.

Peeling off my wellworn and extremely hot fire retardent suit. :D

LOL :)

I rarely watch tv, but I know the type of commercials your talking about. I don't think I'd go as far as swamp rat in saying it's a scam. I think that most of these commercials have some type of disclaimer that this is for entertainment purposes only. No rational person would actually believe any of this (see above quote).

I don't care what you guys say, Miss Cleo has been the best thing in my life since sliced bananas. Even the link that the pagan Power Wagon posted said "Missouri residents, including deceased people, have received bills for Miss Cleo's services". Doesn't that prove to you how strong her powers really are? Not only can she communicate with the dead, she can also bill them. This whole matter of her being called a fraud has me deeply depressed, I'm calling her right after I post this, I don't care if I'm put on hold twenty minutes @ $3. 95/min like usually happens, just to hear her say "Yah mon" will let me sleep tonight. Sometimes she even calls me honey, I'm on cloud nine for days after that!!!

Couldn't have said it better. Now if they can just sh!tcan this John Edwards loser, TV might be safe again. Maybe he'll cross over and decide he likes it better "over there". Would conspiracy theorists classify that as getting "The Call"?

It's coming clear to me now..... the six of injectors show lot's of smoke in your future. Be warned though, the four of Michelins will take offense to the five of exhaust and 32 of boost... Wait... another vision is coming out of the cards... . Gods are saying the overdrive o9f automatic is in much pain... only 93 of torque converter will ease the suffering.

Oh YEah, I have to stop plaing with soo much radiation.

Hey, Illflem, next time you call Miss Cleo and she asks who it is, tell her, "You're the psychic - you tell me who this is!" :D

Swamp Rat

Nice post, Swamp Rat. :D I agree. People that stupid don't really deserve their money back, although she doesn't have a right to be a scam artist either. I like the Stupid Tax term. That's a good one!:D
