Sliding compound miter saws?

I guess you never were at the Jiffy Lube by me... you cant even get on the go peddle at the corner that the Jiffy Lube is at... it's soo oilly , even on a dry and clear day... ... you cant get traction to get into traffic. One has to wonder how many drain plugs or oil filter left there too loose an leaking????

That corner should become a superfund site.

I will never let a Jiffy Lube touch my truck. I shudder to think I have to bring it in for warranty work... ... never mind the local hack lube place. .

Rob,

I KNOW it was a joke...

And very good one at that.

but couldnt help tell my story of the local corner at the Jiffy Lube.....

Most stealers get bashed on this board... but we found one place to talk about that can be worse than the dealer.

last time i was changing the oil, it was nice and warm, calm weather. started at 11:00am and finished at like 4:00pm. was just lying under the truck greasing the fittings after draining and filling the oil and filter. there was a song that i liked on the radio playing so i just put my head down on the drive and listened to the song. . fell asleep with the grease gun by my side.

Power Nap!

Now thats a power nap... ... Yesterday it took me fifteen minutes to change Fuel filter, oil filter, and check belts ect. But engine was nice and clean after washing last week, had to sit and stare at engine for 30 minutes. Thing of beauty... ... ... ... .

Before I built my shop, I was changing oil in the graveled backyard. I went to get up and somehow got my knee locked up. Was flat on my back and couldn't move till my wife found me. She grabbed my foot and jerked it. Tore up a lot of cartlege and had to have surgery. That was the most expensive oil change for me.

Michael,

I can't imagine that happining, but I know it does. One of my uncles is 6'3" and useta hurdle fences in his nieghborhood, without a problem. Then one day, he jumped off his deck (about a 16" drop) and BAM!!!!! No more knee, hes been battlin' that problem for 10 years now, and still wears a brace occasionally. I've been lucky, a few dirt bike wrecks, mountains bike ooops's, general stupidity, and still have intact knee's. Now that I'm creepin' up on old age, I've been tryin' to be a little more careful, however, "careful" doesn't always matter.

Cinder block lesson!

I have a friend who had a 63 Caddy. He had transmission problems and decided to replace the transmission himself. We were all young and foolish in those days.

He jacked it up in the backyard and pulled the tires, set it down on cinder blocks and went at pulling the transmission. He got the transmission out and sent it to the local transmission shop. This next weekend he decided to go ahead and pull the torque converter and replace it before putting the transmission back in. He called me and told me to come over, the fridge was full of beer and help was needed (my kind of help in those days).

I headed over there about 0900 on Sat morning. The house was unlocked, but he was nowhere to be seen. Looked out in the backyard from the porch and couldn't see him. So helped myself to a beer and left. Went back about 1200 and checked again, nothing, nobody, helped myself to another beer and left.

Finally I got worried as he was supposed to have a date that night and his girlfriend called me to ask if he was with me. I headed over there and same thing. I thought I had better do a walkabout the property to check it out. As I came towards the old Caddy I heard a faint "HELP, HELP" . The car was sitting on the frame in the dirt. I asked him if he was OK. Stupid question was answered "OK, just stuck under here, get me out *&%$@. " I got the jack out of my pickup and jacked the frontend up and he crawled out. He was stuck in the transmission well for close to ten hours. He said he could hear me drive up the first time and was hollering. Nobody could hear him.

I guess that taught us all a lesson and jackstands and concrete were in order for all. Lucky he wasn't killed.
