I plan on installing an EZ or VA w/ bigger injectors, probably the 275 or DDII's.

I also want to do a TC and VB upgrade.

Now the question...

Doing a TC and VB is all that has to be done to the transmission??? Nothing else has to be done, bands, etc???

What kind of life span am I looking at getting also???

I want the truck to last me at least 20 years(well that's what I tell the wife). I keep it well maintained and clean. Sometimes better than myself:eek:

I will be towing a 24 to 26 foot boat in a year or so, it is my daily driver, and maybe a little racing, on and off the track:D

I just got off the phone with DTT in Canada. The technician I talked to said that all you have to do to a stock transmission is their VB and Torque Converter upgrades. Which is awesome according to the others on this site!:D

I am also adding a Smart Controller and Brake to the mix due to hauling and towing in mountainous regions. I was set on the BD Brake, but Stephan recommends the PacBrake due to it's ability to work better at higher RPMs than the BD. :)

Take a look at the posts in this and the other forums and you will see a lot of stuff from DTT... . especially happy customers. :D :D

DTT does do an "Update kit". This (I Believe) includes a new 5 clutch pack. He also came out with a Billet piston? I'm not sure what the pistonis for though.

Ill be getting my DTT VB & 89%TC in March from MassDiesel. I ordered the update kit mainly because if your going to crack the transmission open--- You might as well do the updates that can help prolong longevity and improve the shifting.

Here is a quote off the DTT site concerning the update kits:

DTT offers several different Transmission Update Kits in order to give your transmission the best reliability. These Update Kits vary from basic upgrades to full blown rebuild kits. Please feel free to contact our tech line for recommendations for your application.

If you come to the Wrench day on March 16th, we'll all be sure to help you out on your decision.

Good luck :)

Billet piston is for high gear, but that's all I really know about it. He also has cryogenic shafts but it is a new thing, I have the piston,V/B and a 89 converter as well as all the full upgrade stuff now to do the transmission next weekend if all works well.

My impression is some of those new output shafts and related parts DTT has are for the newer transmission that can shift from drive to overdrive locked. Many have posted that shifting lock to lock with 400 or 500 hp is gonna break stuff sooner or later.

Depending on HP levels and how you use your truck you may only need a TC/VB combo or you may need the works. The works will vary depending on year, etc. Not that you should get all that now. But on the other hand if you tell them that you currently only have 300hp and they set you up for that. Then a year from now you have 450hp, you may need to make another trip to the transmission shop.
