experience with Wilderness Yukon

New Member -first Post Bear With Me

My wife and I have been shopping for a new travel trailer for a while now.

We got a good deal on an 02 Wilderness Yucon 830Y. 31' with a 13' slide out.

It's an excellent floor plan for us.

I know most of you out there dont give a rats behind, but I just had to talk about it!!:D I'm bustin! :D

Eric

BTW If anyone out there had a bad experience with the Wilderness, too late... shut up!! Just kidding. :D I would still like to hear opinions.

My old 1984 Chateau 24' is going in the classifieds.

Congratulations

Hey Patriot,

Congrats on the new trailer. We too love camping in our rig. Too bad it is going into storage for the winter this week. Always a sad day. Have fun and safe travels. :D

Cheers, Casey

Congrats. enjoy it and have fun. My first camper was a 1978 Wilderness bunk floor plan, it was well made and we had a lot of fun. I think they still make a good product.

Of course my new (no so new anymore) Cardinal 5er has a lot more options than the older one and we enjoy it.

Good luck and I still think a bad day of camping still is better than a good day at work. ;)

Congrats on the new TT! Happy camping!:D

Oh yeah, the Sunshine State, another reason to move there, don't have to winterize the camper.

Every time I go there don't want to come back, kind hard to picture camping all year long and ride the bike too. I guess some of us aren't as lucky:{

Eric.

Bought a new wilderness 26 ft with slide out last year. Had some problems but the factory (Fleetwood) was excellent about taking care of everything that was wrong. I would definetly go with them again when trade in time comes. Enjoy! :D

Congratulations. Get a sway bar if you don't already have one. And always keep at least 10 gallons of water in the front grey water tank if you have one. Those sideways rides are a booger.

Enjoy the TT.

Dave, I did point out two very minor things that needed some attention to the salesman. Glad to hear they warrantied the work w/o any hassles.

John, I have one of those 8" drop Reese bars with a good 8000Lb ball right now that I used to use on the old 24' Chateau. I showed it to the salesman, and he said it was just fine, but I dont have that warm and fuzzy feeling about it. I will be getting a weight distribution hitch for this before I go anywhere camping with it.

After all, the Reese says 5000 lbs, 500 tongue, and the camper is something like 5300 lbs dry weight, 627 lbs tongue.

I'll pull it home like that, but I'll be grannying it the whole way. :D

Eric

BTW I used to run 3/4 tank of fresh water in the Chateau all the time. Smoothed out the ride in the truck real nicely. :D

My first Baja cabover was a 20+ years old Wilderness that rode on the back of a Toyota 4x4. Great product! The thing took all Baja could throw at it and kept us real cozy :D

Ain't new toys fun :D :D :D :D :D
