A currently running thread comments on a poll in the Ford group seeking input from owners with NO problems with their later trucks - let's try that here and see what we find - and zero problems MEANS *zero problems* - no warranty replacements, etc.

Naturally, normal replacement items like tires, batteries and such are not included...

How about it? :D

Sure wish *I* could check a box - I put over 70,000 miles on my old '91, and finally lost a $12 voltage regulator - that was IT until I sold it with 120,000 miles on the clock...

So far on the '02, rather trivial stuff - replaced defective passenger side tow mirror - and just this morning had a vacuum pump seal replaced under warranty at 27,000+ miles... Both no-questions-asked warranty - done perfectly!

I don't get it... ... what if you had no problems until after like 50,000 miles, such as when my first problem occured which was the rear pinion seal leak? Then would I put down that I had "no problems, over 50,000 miles"?

This is looking for (as stated) ZERO problem trucks - NOT "how many miles BEFORE the first problem"...

Obviously, the odds of failure increase as miles go up - but that's life... ;)

Believe it or not, SOME trucks are capable of racking up LOTS of miles with no failures - and if some feel slighted because they got 83,000 miles, THEN something failed, go ahead and POST it - but that's not what the poll is about!

We like to poke fun at and knock the GM and Ford owners for their failure rates - what can WE show to prove OURS are better? ;) :D :p

HMMMmmm - not as many responses as I woulda thought - maybe more over the weekend...

Sorta hate to think OUR trucks are, on average, as prone to failures as the guys we like to make fun of... ;)

SOME might rationalize that OUR failures aren't as serious as the competition - but face it, a day back at the dealership for a $100 warranty repair is JUST as potentially troublesome and time consuming as the same amount of time for a $1000 warranty repair... ;)

I just got my truck back from having the Vacuum pump seal replaced under warranty - maybe not a big deal in dollars and cents for a retired guy with plenty of time - but the 4 trips it took to FIND the problem, and the 3 weeks all that and special ordering the part CAN be a pain for a working fella or one using the truck to earn his living! ;)

55,000 miles and no problems. Only thing that has been done is the TSB for the cab brake light seal. I change the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter and row the gears with a smile while passing by the ford dealership with all the new 6. 0's sitting at the service bays.

Gary, you need a line to cover "no problems, over 5 miles" and then I could have joined in. :D My cam angle sensor went out at 7-miles.

But in all seriousness, it is not unlikely for such a complex machine to have a few problems along the way. I have had a few nickle and dime items go out, but my only real gripes would be with the lift pump and the steering components.

Well, since taking delivery of our 2002 on 8/15/01, we've accumulated a whopping 21K miles and the truck's never been back to the dealer for anything. Nada. Zip.

I do need to wash it this weekend, however. For some reason, the right rear of the truck is pretty sooty. Does THAT count as a problem?  ;) :D

I was at the gas station the other day talking to a ford 6. 0 owner and asked him about the how his truck had done. He said it had done pretty good. It had only been back to the shop a couple of times. One was for a head gasket and the other was for something to do with the motor. :--) All jokes aside, we have minor problems compared to the other brands. A sensor, track bar, squeak etc. is very small compared to head gaskets blowing under 50,000 miles and whole motor replacments.

Rusty, I seem to recall that you already had to replace your injectors. :D
Do ya reckon that might have anything to do with the soot blackening up the rear quarter of a bright white truck? ;)

JEEZE - let's keep that quiet - sounds like a Ford "didn't even make it home from the dealer" type problem! :D :D :D

Where is the 5 year or 50,000 mile line. I can't compete on the miles, but time counts too. Anyway, this truck will never see the dealer. It might see the Cummins shop, but Dodge is out of the question. Bombed and no issues (except for the paranoia threads on the TDR). :D

P. S. When is the TDR going to fix the spell check on "Cummins?" The TDR guys and gals might want to add TDR to their spell check list too. ;)
