where to go in DE area

Bus 5.9's?

hey guys,

Thinking of putting a ZF5 in my 2001 Dodge cummins. Currently have the nv4500 but it has gone out once, and getting ready to go again.

Just wanted some advice on how the ZF5's do bolted to a ISB. I know that alot of conversions have the zf5 and some have the nv4500, I am already convinced by the rebuild bill and the price of the damn oil that it nv4500 is a piece of I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER. But i like the ZF5, at least behind a powerjoke.

Will the ZF5 handle all that torque? Or would I just be throwing my money away?

Also, can I adapt the ZF5 to the transfercase in my Dodge, or would I have to use the Ford transfer case????

Any info apreciated.

To be honest, I think the NV 4500 is a better trans. I know that it has had some trouble with the mainshaft, but Standard Transmission has all the upgrade parts to fix that problem.

If you still want the ZF, I know they will work behind the Cummins. They have the adapters for them at fordcummins.com. I don't know how much work it would be to make one fit in a Dodge though.

Boyd.

If you are going to the trouble of swapping in a ZF transmission, I would probably get the 6spd. The shift pattern is basically the same as what is on a 18 wheeler. Don't know what the 5spd shift pattern is though on a ZF 5spd.

R 2 4 6

1 3 5

Much nicer that way.

My neighbor is having trouble with his ZF 6 speed. I did some checking for him and I can get a new 5600 for about $500 less than he can get a rebuilt. Why not go with the 5600?
