2 years, 47,000 miles no problems. Drivers side door seal has a rough area where the door rubs it when opening, but no tear. Just did a trip to LA from the bay area... . light foot and helt it to 65 mph down, 21. 4 mpg (calculated), 21. 5 on consol! In a huury coming back... 75 - 80 up I-5, 17. 1 mph. Empty both ways. By the way, paid 2. 99&9/10ths just outside LA. Ouch!

42k of heavy towing (18k-30k) only prob so far was a voltage reg at 1000mi and I think the fan clutch is gone as I don't hear the fan engage. Otherwise great truck!!

New rearend gears and bearings at 6000 miles to fix howl. Rear went out again at 15,000 miles. This time they replaced the gears, bearings and even the housing-- the theory being that the housing may have been distorted. I have never towed anything and I drive like an old man (well, I am)! Also, at around 15,000 miles had to have two injectors replaced because of the dreaded knock. Dealer couldn't figure that one out even though I told them what I knew from this site. Finally had to take it to Cummins for them to diagnose the injector knock (at my expense and a 180 mile round trip) and get it in writing before dealer would do cylinder contribution test and replace the injectors. When dealer heard the knock they thought it was piston slap (on a warm engine) and wanted to tear the engine apart. 21,000 miles now and another injector is beginning to act up. Also, the engine preheater has stopped working. I might add that just prior to the second go around with the rearend I was stopped at an intersection and a Toyota Camry pulled out of the side street and an oncoming Ford pickup tore his front end off and hit me head on-- pretty hard. The Dodge was the only vehicle that survived. So, maybe some of these problems could be a result of the accident. By the way, the douchebag in the Toyota was on his cellphone and never looked to the left before pulling out in front of the Ford.

The only problems I have had with my 03' was the passenger side AC vent door jammed shut because the screws holding the himges fell out. And the fade and balance knobs on the radio are disintegrating!?! I NEVER use them! I just replaced one the other day at the dealer off a junked out 03' sterio. The MPG is awsome. No complaints so far though.

03' SLT, H. O. 6spd. QC, 4X4,

66' D500 Dump truck, 318 Wide, 4spd w/2spd. rear.

no major problem that I can confirm a few annoyances. buzz in drivers door sometimes. passenger side a/c gets warm sometime but i dont sit there so. not sure about any knock issues, think it sounds like a diesel... got 17. 6mpg last trip at 75 to 80 mph hand calculated almost right on with the over head. would like a little more power to pass at 70-80 but.

So far so good

Just clocked 18K, love the truck. Only nits for the dealer thus far rear pinion seal weeps and maybe the injecter knock that seems somewhat common.

The last 6K I put on traveling thru Nova Scotia. 4 adults and our stuff. We had a grand time, less the fuel prices (~ 3. 80/gal) Ouch! Avg MPG 19.

1. horn went bad

2. U joints

3. ball joints (going in next week)

4. driveshaft angle fixed

25k on the clock 1. 5 years old.

Nothing major yet

I have had my truck one year and 31,000 miles and no major problems yet. The Driver side door seal needs replaced and I have a rattle from underneath that I only hear when decelarating down a hill. Not sure what could be causing the rattle. Great truck! Better MPG when towing wouldn't hurt. I got 12MPG last weekend with 8500 lbs one way and 4500 lbs the other on mostly flat ground with a little bit of wind. I think my 70MPH is to blame.

New kid to TDR... But have an 05 2500 with 1500 miles and the only problem is the A/C dosen't seem to be getting very cool (77 degree cab temps with blower on high and outside temp at 84)... having dealer look at it in a couple of days... and greeting from the great Pacific Nortwest

I've got 11,500 miles and have had the following problems:

- AC was never fully charged from the factory, dye added for leak detection.

- 3rd set of door seals

- Reverse light switch caused lights to blink in reverse

- Clutch issues, dealer has attempted repair 4 times, replaced hydraulic clutch cylinder twice. Had a problem where the clutch pedal wouldn't come all the way to the top when fully released. After the hydraulic cylinder replacements, I've got a problem with a popping feeling/sound when depressing the clutch. Sent a letter to DaimlerChrysler last week about the problems regarding lemon law buyback/refund, we'll see what they say. If it goes back for repair again, it will be the 5th time trying to resolve my clutch problem.

One of those problems that may or may not leave me on the side of the road, but, there is an issue and don't think I'm asking too much to have it fixed. Know what I mean? Paid a lot for this truck (like everyone else out there), I just want everything to work like it's supposed to.

Stock 03 SO 47re with a whopping 11k miles. Nothing to report. These ball joint/u joint threads have me concerned though. Scary stuff... chassis parts wearing out so quickly.

Wish I could find a Linex dealer nearby. Even better if they can do colors.

Still havent done Spooled-up's tank mod... parts sitting on bench for 6 months.

I must be going deaf. . radio doesnt seem to play as loud as it use to.

Still havent gotten around to buying rear floor mats. .

MPG not as good as others claim.

Like I said. . best truck I have owned to date

jfrow2 -

Would like to hear "wha-happened".

[And of course, hope all is OK now!]

Thanks,

04 305/555:

Problems 46k : TSB on door seal, speaker buzz (warrenty fix), and two ujoint on rear drive shaft fixed under warranty.

Beautiful Things: Best hiway and gravel road cruising truck of the three CTDs I've had due to the longer rear springs. The 3. 73 is perfect for my needs. Brakes great, like the four door accessibility, six speed sure beats the five speed hands down, whisper quiet at the expresso stand, steering is in not even in the same universe as the previous trucks, beefier front steering components.

13,000mi only the door seals had to be replaced. So far it leaves my 2001 in the dust. Better steering, brakes and power. Time will tell if she will hold up like that one. And she is getting 18-20 mpg since day one.

Had a very slight squealing noise in my 04. 5 that I thought was coming from the power steering. Happened so infrequently I knew I could never duplicate for the dealer. Time and some very hot weather has since made it happen more often and more pronounced..... so I finally took it in and gave what I thought was a detailed explanation of what I heard and where I thought it was coming from. Only happens when I'm turning and usually after the vehicle has been driven awhile. Dealers first fix was to say the ABS sensor bracket was rubbing. I took it back to him within an hour and finally got him to go for a short ride with me to point out the squeal. Dealer now has a power steering gearbox on order. The failed part, or time it takes to get a replacement, doesn't bother me as much as the fact the service manager wouldn't take the time to go for a quick ride the first time and hear it for himself.
