I love this truck but hate, and I mean HATE the terrible support for the diesel market. If they'd let Cummins dealers do warranty work, the problem would be solved instantly. Nothin prettier than that big blue C on the front of an old, half run down shop with nothin but pickups outside. Instead, they not only put a DC ecm on this wonderful engine, they intentionally pin it out so as to prevent an authorized Cummins dealer from plugging in to it (and getting anything useful). They have us coming and going.

Well, there's my rant for the day. Now, do you want to know what I really think???[/QUOTE]

I could not have said this better myself my sidiments exactly!

"Since you asked :-laf

You increased rail pressure"--Does a Juice do that on an '06? It doesn't on my '04. 5

"boost pressure"--he didn't blow a turbo or intercooler

"and EGT's over what Dodge built" --not even close. 1350*F is a long ways from the 1500*F I can easily see on a hill from my currently stock '04. 5. Your '03 runs a lot cooler than the '04. 5 and newer.

14 days at Towbin and this is what they found

I finally got my truck back, I haven't had a chance to hook it up to my trailer and give it a load test but so far it seems to be running ok, except I think they screwed up my factory alarm because it doesn't work right since I have picked it up. The diagnosis, High pressure actuator part # 14002015. I looked it up at there parts department and it looks like it comes off the injection pump. Of course when I spoke to Jeff the Service manager on the phone and he told me what they suspected and the problem, he said they would have to replace the "high pressure pump" When I ask him if that means they rebuild the pump in order to replace the acuator he said" no, it's a sealed pump and they replace the whole thing". Very knowledgable service Manager at Towbin Dodge, Huh? Well at least I have my truck back, they did warrantee it, didn't give me a problem there. Oh, BTW they never did fix the abrasive noise in the trans I believe they caused, in fact they drained my good amsoil atf+4 and put in there mopar crap. So I guess I'll have to plan on changing that at some time in the future, also they filled it up with 5 qt's. I can't remember what I put in with amsoil, but didn't I read 6 qt's of ATF +4 ?

After 14 days at Towbin, still not fixed!

This is absolulty inexcusable. I hooked up my trailer this morning, I went 2 blocks and the engine light came back on(P0148). Towbin Dodge did nothing but Lied to me. How can a dealer like this be a representitive of Dodge? I am so angry, it now will cost me a rented truck until this is fixed. I really don't know what is wrong with this but I am really swaying to just buying GDP pump and installing it to see if this solves my problem. Dodge obvoiusly is not concerend with fixing it. I was thinking of raising Hell with Towbin, but why? They don't give a damn about Dodge customers, there sole concern is collecting money from us. Guess what parking lot my truck will never see again? If anyone can help me solve this problem on my own, please let me know. At this point I am no longer concerned with the warrantee, I just need this fixed, it is now costing me way to much money with a truck I can not count on.

Be careful what you wish for. Cummins is very conservitive when it comes to modifications. Cummins Cal Pacific will not warranty any job when the engine is not at the factory level. Head studs are enough. When a reman engine is installed if you want to run different injectors, turbo whatever, there will be no warranty from mile 1.

Alls they'll do is put another crappy lift pump on . You will need to wonder when that one is going to go out too. Screw them , piece of mind , install a good aftermarket unit with some better filtration.

Me too

I look at the 100k warranty like I do major medical insurance. I'll take care of the small stuff and the warranty take care of the big stuff. I am self employed also think of how much money and time you have lost.

If your wishing you could go to Cummins be careful what you wish for. Most if not all of the STAR Cummins representatives are actually Cummins employees on contract to DC. Cummins gets to eat the DC warranty repairs, so they are very conservative when it comes to modifications.

Very interesting I was under the impression that Dodge bought these motors from Cummins with no warranty. Learn something new every day

I'm ordering a glacier pump today, hope that solves this issue. Thanks for the help and advise guys. I'm a super cheapo and try to get someone else to pay where I can, should know better, huh?

Follow up to my experience with Towbin Dodge in Las vegas

Well it turns out Towbin Dodge kept my truck for 14 days, never repaired the truck, and get this, I brought the truck to another dealer, told him my story. He immediatly did a history on the truck and found "TOWBIN DODGE NEVER CONTACTED TECH AUTHORITY FOR REPAIR" SO I was lied to repeatedly by Towbin Dodge and still have a non working truck. Also Tech authority said the part they did replace "which BTW needs Tech authority aproval to replace, has nothing to do with my symptoms. I'm thinking of contacting Dodge and making them aware of this treatment. Somebody needs to be accountable for this lack of service.

Did you take it to Integrity Dodge by any chance?

That sucks... ... ... but did Towbin Dodge lie to you or just the svc advisor. You always have the option of talking to the G. M. or dealer principle when you think things are not right. If it is sop for the place like MMeir feels, maybe you should have pulled it out of there.

No I was going to go to Integrity Dodge originally, but old age set in and I forgot there name. Damn. I'm from Kigman ,Az and I just went back to my local dealer, surprisingly enough they were very accomidating and helpful this time, I was very impressed.

At Towbin I orginally was working with the service writer but that ended real fast. I was then working directly with Jeff Rogers the Suposed Service Manager... They called me and asked me how there service was, I gave the poor gal an earful, proceeded to tell her I am not taking this out on her and don't take it personally but Jeff Rogers should be fired. She told me she'd fax the Execs at Towbin... ... OH BOY!!!!!
