10" ring gear, I guess you will see them blown out just like a Dana 70" :)

Or be like my neigbors toyota, loaded it down and bent the frame. Toyota makes a good car, an ok truck, oh by the way didn't they just have two of the largest recalls in history in the last two year?? 500,000 units many requiring engine replacements at $10,000 a unit. So guess what Toyota does, they decide to take money from the hourly people to help pay for their design problem. Sounds like a great company to me. LOL

That's better than fords approach, no recall and deny that the 6. 0 has any problems. Just let the customer hang... . or rather walk. :-laf

I wouldn't rule out an american vendor for the tundra, But if they show up they will sell, If they would intro a 4cyl turbo diesel from the hino truck and claim a heavy 1/2 or light 3/4. they would sell like crazy. However the CAT name would quickly win customer in the american market.

At least they recalled a problem and fixed it. Ford just denies problems. I believe Toyota is now the number 1 vehicle manufacture in the world.

It took a class action suit against Toyota to get it done. Don't think they are the all "good" They are just as bad about stuff as the next guy. Getting worse and worse about it, too. They let it leak a few weeks back that they aren't making enough, and are going to have to cut wages and healthcare.

zstroken,

That may be but Toyota is the sole manufacturer who was found to be working in favor of the customer in the recent odometer scandal. All the Detroit boys were at zero with Honda and Nissan I believe being amongst those that were cheating the customer.

I personally don't like Toyota's (nothing personal just don't like the styling) but I DO like Honda's. Too bad some bean counter decided to roll the dice.

Honda seems to be doing the right thing, seeking moderate market share gains. I feel Toyota is too agressive even 10 billion profit isn't alot of money. Toyota could burn through that in months.

Can it be true... Hasn't anyone else seen or at least noticed the obvious signs that say Toyota is going to CAT for it's rumored Diesel engine????
You know I've been thinking of your thread you started and there is one flaw in your theory, have you looked at the frame on the Tundra? As I was waiting for my wifes little Yaris I looked them over pretty good and then asked for the brochure on them and could not believe that the frame could even support a Tacoma GCWR. Maybe you have seen it and think it will support a diesel and the GCWR but I dont. That is something they will have to address in the future and don't be supprized if they have problems with the way they are now, concidering the reciever is just a square hole beefed up on the end crossmember of the frame. A half ton truck (33K) at the same cost of a one ton 4X4 truck with a Hemi, I dont know about ford or chevy but that is a lot money for a little truck and compare the frame of the Ram, even a half ton frame, is twice the frame as the Tundra.

Yup... . Everybody knows Ford owns Cummings... :-laf :-laf :-laf

Do a search for "Cummings" and you'll see. This was proven way back in the 1990's..... :-laf

Since we are on the 'pipe', let's take another toke: Why Caterpillar? Why not a 5. 9 Cummins, Allison 1100, 20" wheels, Toyo 37's and Kore Ultimate suspension as standard fare. All this for $25K and a 100K mile waranty to boot. Anybody got any mescaline? Throw in some stacks too for the Cum-Yota.

Gizz, it's common knowledge that Ford owns Cummings, I don't need to call to find out. ;)

I just spoke to a Cummins Rep, who said ford does NOT own any part of Cummins. For a short time in the 90's ford did own some stock in Cummins, but not controlling interest in the company. At this time ford has 0 interest in Cummins. When you call that toll free number, ask for Customer Services. I don't know what else to do to convince you. :-{}

OK, this is getting out of hand... .
