Way more Cummins-dodge trucks on the road than any other brand.

Anyone using Geno's CIPA after market towing mirrors? How do they compare to OEM? Are they longer then OEM? Do they extend out farther? Do they retract in closer? I've got an 05' with sport mirrors, and purchasing a 5th wheel. I need any advise on the best towing mirrors. I don't really like the OEM and looking for something that will do the job and not stick out beyond factory when folded in. I won't be towing that much, and still like the sport mirror look on my truck. I probably can't have it both ways, but not looking for some elephant ears either... :-laf :-laf :-laf

appreciate any help???

I am using these mirrors and they work well . They do have an elephant ear look about them . Some people have complained about vibration but I have not had any vibration problems to date .

The CIPA mirrors have been good have a set on both trucks. There was a vibration problem on the first set, but when I called Genos they put me in touch with the manufacturer and they had already come up with a fix that involved replacing the glass and its holder. They sent me a set with a special tool no charge and I changed them out. Haven't had a problem since.

If I needed new mirrors, I would but them again. Set up on a second gen 2500 they are 108" wide in the extended position. I put spot mirrors on but not on the glass and have good visibility. Yes they are large, but I like them

I have the tow mirrors on my CTD and the CIPA mirrors on our Suburban and personally, I like the fold out tow mirrors better. The CIPA mirrors slowly slide out when there are a lot of gusts. I haven't noticed it much but my wife commented about it after an extended road trip last summer. To resolve this, I drilled a small hole in the lower arm and put in a small screw to prevent the mirror from sliding out. They have plenty of visibility and vibration hasn't been an issue unless, again, there are a lot of gusts. Plus it is now very easy to spot our Suburban with the "elephant ear" mirrors...

I've got the CIPA mirrors also, and like them except that I do experience constant vibration problems with them. If someone has the contact information for the manufacturer, please post it!

They are large and give a good field of view, but I have not experienced the problem with them sliding out that RMachida mentioned.

I would probably buy them again, provided I can get the vibration issue fixed.

I have used them both and prefer the OEM. While the actual glass surface is larger in the CIPA, the smaller profile of the Oem and the Convex mirror are points tha,IMHO, tilt the scales to the OEM

Have a set on my Ram. Been on for 3+ years, I think. Been a while. lol Pics in RR. I do wish I had gotten the ones with the heating elements, and rewired the plug.

Their latest version has a seperate convex mirror on the bottom, and built in turn signals like the Ford mirrors. Also have the option of a chrome or SS cover for the front side. I'd prefer that version over mine. I like the built in LED light as well.

The newer ones appear to stick out farther than the older ones, like mine. I put on a set of bigger spot mirrors than what came with the CIPA mirrors, but wish they had a braket for a seperate one that wouldn't waste so much of the main mirrior.

Even though I rarely tow, I keep them slid out all of the way, since my truck has a big butt. :-laf

Until recently, the mirror glass never vibrated on me. :) If these can't be fixed, I'm gonna get the new version, or go with west coast mirrors. :D My truck already thinks it is an 18 wheeler, so I might as well finish the look. :-laf

Oh, I forgot to mention the best feature of the CIPA, at least in our house, is that they will fold forward when you hit something while backing up, like say the garage door jamb. That is what broke the oem mirrors on our suburban...

Have `em. Like `em. Longer than OEM and can be extended. I have NO vibration problems. The key to that is to follow their installation directions and use an expanded scale inch pound torque wrench. :-laf

if you don't tow very often and like the stock mirrors , you might consider a pair of Hensley tow mirrors which attach to doors and strap on to the bottom edge of door, I used these for years on my old truck, very sturdy, excellent view and attach and remove in just a few seconds. On my . 05' , they are position just outside of my stock mirrors, very good product, lets you keep stock mirror and are considerably cheaper than replacing originals, maybe 125-150 or so depending on where you purchase them.

I have the factory tow mirrors and like them. It may just be what I have gotten used to. I bought a used truck and it had the sport mirrors and I hated them. I have ordered a set of tow mirrors from Winnona Chrysler in MN. This has been an ordeal. They gave me a great price off of their Ebay site, but one of the first mirrors came in broken. They ordered a replacement and it arrived at their dealership broken. They reordered a mirror and sent it to me and it was not broken, but the electrical pins were missing in the connector. They have been great to work with so far.

If they mirrors are 108 inches they will need to be permitted, I think. I believe 102" is as wide as you can go before permits. I know that is the rule with loads, but maybe the tow vehicle has different regs.

Do you have a web site or link for these?

It seems 50% for the stock OEM, and about 50% for the CIPA... . I had a set of OEM when I bought the truck and the car wash took the diver side out by bending it backwards. . So I gave a guy my passenger side who broke his when backing up, and put on the sport. Do the CIPA go both ways? I thought the OEM were a little "cheesy", maybe I need to re-think. Anyone use those electric retractable type, kind if look like an accordion. Kind of look like an robotic arm? I bet these are expensive.

Maybe the newer CIPA mirrors will do the trick, anyone got a link for those. Thanks, for all the help. Deciding on which 5th wheel was easy for me , deciding on what type of mirrors to get is frustrating, because I'm anal about looks and functionability. :{

??????

This mirror thing is driving me crazy. . #@$%! Has anyone used the CIPA "slip on" mirrors? They are about $60 per pair. My concern do they stick out enough?

I have the cipa (from DC) "elephant ear" ones... with convex mirror and turn signals... they're great!
