In the latest issue of TDR Suncoast offers an Allison conversion kit for the Dodge Diesel. I got on the website and can't find any information. What other companys offer this setup? Is anybody jumping on this one? Just getting ready to upgrade my trans and I saw the ad.
 
Interesting topic - figure the cost has to be big $, comparing it to a well built 47RE, what is the advantage of an Allison? :confused:

For me the advantage would be the extra gears when towing through the rockys. The engine could be in the power band all the time!
 
ben talking to suncoast it will be another month or two and cost will be up there
ats has made a control for the allison outside a chevy and i don't think it has been released yet but not sure on that but i sure would love a allison in my truck but im very happy with my new suncoast trans little firm in the shifts but it getting softer the more i drive the more it learns.

I do not believe that the 47RE is a learning type transmission. Shifts are all controlled in the valve body and OD is in the PCM, correct me if I am wrong. SNOKING
 
My ATS seems to be bullet proof so far. I think I am going to put a Gear Venders splitter on it, Anyone have any input on this?

I know of one guy running 700 hp 1400 tq through a gearvenders OD unit and nv5600 in a 2500 4X4 and he is a regular puller on the local circuit. and gets 25mpg at 80mph. he has had no problems in the 2 years of running it.
 
A guy on a other site has about 20 some posts talking about this , I called and seem to remember about $8,000 for a , leave truck for a few days & drive off , if money is not an issue and/or your in competition , it is the best choice it seems , but for me [ limited funds & no hot rodding ] just RVing , a Gorends trans. seems to be in my future , about $3,000 + or - .

dont you just love the mpg figures ! there are about three diffrent guys around here that claim in the 20 mpg! bs. numbers maybe with a gv i dont know but my rpm is only 2000 at 80 and i can only get 16. 8 or 17 at any speed thats with a chip and stanadyne no chip no treat 15. 4 mpg low 16 .

i recently had a full dtt clutch upgrade and servo upgades and new valve dtt valve body i love the trans a little on the pricey side of things about 4500 buck and thats without new converter! but i have hitched my truck up to 37,000 pounds gvw and stood on the throttle transmission shifts great for sure worth every penny i think. if you could afford an allison i would go that route because there just simply is no comparison between the two trannys its like comparing a b series to a durymax :-laf
