Anyone heard about the new conoco fuel additive

Trailer Life article ATS performance up grades

well it is certainly a stepping stone in the right direction. i have never pulled with my truck and don't plan to but i can tell you i have destroyed a couple clutches during many abusive show off sessions. who would ever thought 10yrs ago that these trucks would be where they are in the power and torque? to me the weak link was always clutch slippage but now i am confident on that being a thing of the past. my truck is no where near the powerhouse of some of the many TDR members but 35 inch tires put an extreme amount of load on the drivetrane. with my new clutch i should have plenty of room to grow and lots of fun in the future.

looking into a 3850# 12 button.

havn't decided: ceramic or feramic

also looking for good distributor in nebraska area.

Anyone have a 3850 installed?

I'm also concerned with the rotating mass and my synchro's...

I'll have the 3850 12 cb here next week. I could let you know then. Dont know of any dealers in NE. Order it straight through Peter at Southbend?

SBC clutch distributor

Diesel Specialties of Omaha can get them for you, But for best price in the area id call John at Floor it Diesel in Lawrence, KS He's super nice guy and will steer you in the right direction with a heck of a price!!

Peter, what is the correct break-in procedure, specifically?

About like anything, be nice for a little while and then beat the crap out of it. :-laf

Really, to answer your question specifically, give the clutch a few hundred miles of stop and go to allow the clutch materials to seat to the surfaces of which they contact. This will allow the clutch system to get full contact. Think of it this way, you wouldn't take a freshly built engine to the drag strip and rev it to 10,000 RPM's the day it was done.

Unless of course your name is PIERS' :-laf Still remember what he did..... what 4 years ago, not many hours after the install of one of your new DD's 3rd gear launch donut after donut :-laf Good Times!!

On a serious note my DD "broke in" was a new clutch right at 1000 miles and that was almost 4 years ago

Sweet!!!

i got the pleasure of installing one of these this weekend for the first time on a customers truck. it was a 2005 G56. i can tell you that the install went great. i was a little concerned leaving the stock hydraulics with the 3600 plate load, got it all in and fired it up on the lift just to test the hydro's out. to my surprise they worked just fine. they worked well enough that it went into gear as well as my OFE.

i have spoke with a bunch of guys who have this new DD and they all tell you how smooth this clutch is to drive. but what they cant tell you just how drivable this thing really is. it is just too hard to explain how well it really works. all i can say is that if you are on the fence between a dual disc and a single get off it and buy the dual disc. it engages smoother than any clutch i have ever driven in my life. i just couldnt believe it. to the guys over at Southbend you have really out done yourselves this time. what a great product.

As a matter a fact the customer called me when he finished his 300 mile trip home, and said it just got better the whole way. he himself couldnt believe it either. his is a member here but he reads more than he posts maybe he will chime in.

Yup this past weekend i made a trip down to Maryland to have Robert at NGM Diesel to install a new SBC 3600 12CB that we recently ordered for my truck. First off my plans were to go with a SBC CON FE, but the more and more i did my research and after talking to Peter and Robert, I knew that the new DD sprung application will handle all my future mods and still have great drivablilty. The trip was made and Robert handling the installation i was pretty nervous on how things were going to turn out and how my stock hydos would handle the 3600 plate load. But after the install we were all surprised to feel how nice the pedal pressure was. (it was alot better than i could ever imagine) and how well it went through the gears with the stock hydro was an even bigger plus. .

Like Robert said if your trying to decide between a single or a dual get the dual, like me you wont be disappointed. The clutch is super smooth to drive and i just keeped getting better and better the more i drove it. The stock hydros and working fine but i am going to upgrade them just to get the adjustability. Its so hard to explain how nice and friendly the new sprung application is to drive.

I wanted to thank Peter, keep up the great work and = Robert and Wade at NGM Diesel for all your help... .

Thanks Shawn.....
