Definitely count me in. I say keep the visual effect as close to stock as is feasible. I bought this truck with the intent of keeping it forever, so price isn't a huge issue.

I am also disappointed with the throw of the high beams on my 2005. I would be interested in buying a set of the headlights being described here, if they work and look right to me. In the meantime, I am wondering if anyone has tries replacing their stock 9007 headlight bulbs with PIAA's equivalent bulb (piaa#19617) to see if they help out at all. I have found the piaas online for about $62. 00 a pair and am interested in them if they would throw more light than the stock lamps. Any input, or should I just call it an experiment and order the bulbs? Thanks.

I tried PIAA's super bulbs & wasn't impressed. I really didn't see much improvement. They both burned out within 6 months of being installed. I won't spend the money for them again.

Just an observation: We have a 02 Dodge minivan that had terrible headlights, just like our Ram. Due to an accident, both headlight housings were replaced with aftermarket units (Keystone I believe). They use the same bulbs, but man what a difference they made! My guess its the same for the Rams, not so much the bulbs but the design of the reflector and lens assembly thats lacking. Must be a Dodge thing



Wonder if Keystone sells stock replacement housings for the Rams? If so that may be what you have to compete against price wise MoparBob.

Thanks for the info on the Piaa Bulbs. My main problem is that the stock high beams just don't throw far and bright enough for the terrain I live in. Low beams with fog lights work great though. Anyone here using the Brite Box? I don't really see how it will help with the throw, but it seems that being able to run lo/hi and fog would definitely help with the brightness issue. I am definitely interested in the aftermarket lenses being developed here. I'll keep checking back. Thanks.

A lot of people here are running Brite Boxes including myself. Between the Brite-Box, Fogzilla and the Silverstar Ultras I upgraded to, the lighting was improved, but still barely adequate. These new headlamps will work with the Brite-Box (will test to make sure when able) so there will be no loss if you upgrade and find that it isn't enough. The key to these lamps will be the superior optics directing the light where you need it.

I totally agree that superior optics design is crucial and I remain very interested in purchasing a pair of these headlamps when they are available. It's also good to know that the Brite Box will likely be compatible with the new headlamps. Can anyone tell me if the Brite Boxes and Fogzilla are a quality, problem free upgrade (assuming a meticulous installation) for the 3rd gen CTD? Also, I am of course leaning towards the Stage 3 upgrade (like yours, MoparBob) but am wondering about others experiences with the different stage upgrades. It seems that there would be no reason not to go with the full Box, Fogzilla and lamp upgrades? A few other threads have indicated some problems, but Baker Auto seems to feel that these are now all addressed. What do you all think? TIA, CFish

I have purchased the brite box about two years ago and found one of the boxes would cause the passenger side headlight to blink on and off with the brites on. I called Geno's and they shipped me a replacement part. I exchanged the missbehaving part and have had no problems since.



I would still like more reach with the brights and have considered adding driving lights. I'm afraid if I had driving lights, I would use them on the highway and get a ticket.

Add on driving lights are great, but in some places illegal to run when we want to the most... in traffic. These will aleviate that problem.



The Brite Box I have installed has been reliable and was an easy install. The Fogzilla kit also installed easily, though I need to look into why I had some moisture in my driver's side fog lamp after I did the install. I may have twisted the o-ring when installing the bulb or maybe I have another issue. I'll look into it as soon as I return home.

I too have the moisture problem in the driver's side fog light after the Fogzilla install. Could there be a trend here?

Tonight while looking at the front of my truck, trying to decide if I wanted to mount some Piia 1100x driving lights somewhere behind the grill, but with the lights poking through, I noticed that the Stock headlamp has an elliptical cap over both the hi/lo bulb and turn bulb. It looks to be removable, and now I am wondering if any of you have tried removing the cap over the hi/lo bulb to see how the headlight works with it removed. I'm sure the cap is supposed to keep the bulb from directly shining towards the front, and probably from shining to brightly into oncoming traffic, so this might not be a safe or wise thing to do, but I am still curious. Anyone done this yet? Also, MoparBob, just wondering on the projected timeframe of the new headlamps being available-- 3 months, 6 months, 1 year?? Thanks again to all of you for all the great info.
