It is time again for me to change the differential fluid in my 2003 4x4..... I want to run the Amsoil Severe gear fluid. However, I have a few questions first.

1. ) Should I be using the 75W-90 Severe gear?

2. ) Do I need to put the addiditve in the rear diff?

3. ) How many quarts do I need for the front and rear?

4. ) Do I need new gaskets, or are they re-usable? (Sorry, never did this before)

Any information would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

1. Vaughn answered that

2. no, AAM axels do not need addatives

3. about 2 gallons will do both with some left over

4. nope, both gaskets are reusable. just clean off mating surfaces well, observe bolt hole orentation when re-installing gasket, they only go on one way.

When I change mine, I just loosen the bolts and break the seal with a screwdriver. After it's done draining, I retorque and I've never had a leak. Saves alot of time and mess. Some people like to wipe everything down, but you can't wipe down your engine everytime you change your oil so . . .
