I'm in between the 2 extremes you described.
Now if he had stolen my Road Runner... .
I'd not really wish him to be dead, he does have a couple of kids and parents. it all started when a girlfriend dumped him.
We need to find a balance between members of our society that would hang him at sun rise and those that would instantly forgive him as he's "troubled". That's a subject for a different web site.
Insurance will clean and repair the truck. my problem now is that it might need painted, will need some of the interior replaced, and has been run at some length with no coolant in it. This might all add up to a write off .
The pictures I took of it this moring are not pretty.
I'll let you know what happens
I can't believe you said that and others agree with you. The man committed a crime and he must pay for his crime, but I can not wish him to die. He is still a human being. He may have a mom or dad or a wife or children who care about him. He does deserve his time in jail and he needs rehabilitation. I for one am happy his alive, even if I'm the only one that think that way.
Grizzly and Whiskey- I see your point, apparently being good sensitive people that cherish all human life, (I am NOT making fun of you this time) BUT, this guy at one point wanted to end his own life. I think what the others were saying is why not let him have his wish? I realize it is probably more paperwork for the police involed, but still, it would be a better society if this leech was out of it. Suicidal people are not known for their good work eithic.
As for stealing a truck, I am kind of leaning toward the "shoot horse thieves" end of the spectrum, understanding where it started, and once afoot, a man was as good as dead. But OTOH, times have changed, and a man afoot isnt as bad off as he once was, so maybe life in a tent camp with Sherrif Arpaio (sp?) may be better for him. I'd still beat to death anyone I caught trying to steal my set of wheels. It's my source of autonomy and independence. The truck (or car, SUV, whatever) is better than a house, as the vehicle is mobile, and you can still sleep in it. Best of both worlds.
Glad you got your truck back and the insurance company cleaned it up for ya.
Daniel
I do respect you opinion, however I have to respect a man life more. This is still a human being who needs help. Now if the man had killed someone, that a different story. But he only stoled a truck. Don't wish him dead.
