Hope the jerk didn't make it. There would be less repeat offenders if there were more of them in boot hill. A concept our gov't does not grasp

Would probably drop the auto theft rate if potential thieves new they could be offed for stealing a car. Though on second thought, the only ones left would be REALLY good at what they do... . survival of the fittest and all.

I'd not really wish him to be dead, he does have a couple of kids and parents. it all started when a girlfriend dumped him.

We need to find a balance between members of our society that would hang him at sun rise and those that would instantly forgive him as he's "troubled". That's a subject for a different web site.

Insurance will clean and repair the truck. my problem now is that it might need painted, will need some of the interior replaced, and has been run at some length with no coolant in it. This might all add up to a write off .

The pictures I took of it this moring are not pretty.

I'll let you know what happens

I'm in between the 2 extremes you described.

Now if he had stolen my Road Runner... .

69RoadRunner,

Did you buy the car new? I have a friend that bought a 69 Super Bee new when he finished high school. He still has the car and drives it occassionally in the summer. It is a very nice looking car and runs great.

Is your truck cleaned up yet? I wish you well with your insurance.

mr. hamill, consider yourself lucky. a year ago i had a truck stolen off the local lowes parking lot. it was an old gm diesel truck, nearly 400k on the clock, and about 4k of that on a new engine. the old truck was worth little to most, but since being in the family since new in 1982,it had lots of senimental value to me, and i had plans on retireing/restoring it. well after being on the run for nearly 30 days, and getting little help from the local law we finally recovered it. [long story] needless to say he had done much damage to the truck while fleeing from the law, property damage to others, and running at least one young lady off the road. in my case, this guy was a repeat offender for the last 15 years, some pretty serious stuff too. he had no respect for others property,or safety. in my and many others opinoin, he was a complete waste of good air. i said it a year ago,and i say in still, that sob deserved to die. the day before he was caught,i was one of the ones involved in chaseing him, had i crossed paths with him, he would have gained at least one extra hole in the process. in the end,he spent 4 days in jail, made bail, and has not been seen since...

I can't believe you said that and others agree with you. The man committed a crime and he must pay for his crime, but I can not wish him to die. He is still a human being. He may have a mom or dad or a wife or children who care about him. He does deserve his time in jail and he needs rehabilitation. I for one am happy his alive, even if I'm the only one that think that way.

100% I agree with Grizz... .

Well it will be at least another week before I get my truck back.

Everything inside from carpet to headliner is being replaced.

The box is being painted. Mirrors , signal light lenses, one tail light, and 2 sway bar end links ( I don't know why) are being replaced. My insurance is even going to cover the fuel that was in my aux tank.

They even dry cleaned the theive's clothes ???????

Think I'll contract out the next job, then it won't be my truck to worry about !!!

Grizzly and Whiskey- I see your point, apparently being good sensitive people that cherish all human life, (I am NOT making fun of you this time) BUT, this guy at one point wanted to end his own life. I think what the others were saying is why not let him have his wish? I realize it is probably more paperwork for the police involed, but still, it would be a better society if this leech was out of it. Suicidal people are not known for their good work eithic.

As for stealing a truck, I am kind of leaning toward the "shoot horse thieves" end of the spectrum, understanding where it started, and once afoot, a man was as good as dead. But OTOH, times have changed, and a man afoot isnt as bad off as he once was, so maybe life in a tent camp with Sherrif Arpaio (sp?) may be better for him. I'd still beat to death anyone I caught trying to steal my set of wheels. It's my source of autonomy and independence. The truck (or car, SUV, whatever) is better than a house, as the vehicle is mobile, and you can still sleep in it. Best of both worlds.

Glad you got your truck back and the insurance company cleaned it up for ya.

how about 39 lashes as a punishment... ..... if I stole it would sure make me think twice.

I do respect you opinion, however I have to respect a man life more. This is still a human being who needs help. Now if the man had killed someone, that a different story. But he only stoled a truck. Don't wish him dead.

Proper punishment.

To lift a line from Woody Allen,"Give him two weeks in the hot box with a life insurance salesman. " A fate worse than death. :)

Just to be clear, as it turns out his sins extend beyond just the theft of my truck. There are 2 counts of auto theft ( my truck & the trailer) one count of theft over $5000 ( trailer contents +$50,000 ) and 2 counts of break and enter, 2 counts of property damage.

Might get my truck back next week.

I'd say his facing a long time behind bars. It will give him time to think and hopefully turn his life around. I wish you well on your truck.
