Happy owner of new wildcat tt with some?

Purge a Propane Tank?

I will be hauling a massey 175 tractor with loader(weight 6100 w/o loader) & a john deere 2010 crawler(weight around 10k). The truck is a 1 ton dually and the trailer is 21k GVW. Total load will be over 26k, but I own everything but the trailer. The way I read the book, I don't need a CDL because I it is personal property. This is a one time haul(moving).

Is it to heavy?

Is it safe?

Is it legal?

Thanks Kevin

Heavy? Depends on your truck. No sig, so we won't know.

Safe? Again, it depends on your truck. Back roads, no traffic and lots of room to stop with good brakes on the truck and trailer.

Legal? Nope.

Thanks for the reply.

Heavy- truck is a 1993 Chevy 1 ton dually crew cab. Motor is a Cummins from a 97, about 400rwhp.

Safe- chicago around noon heading to the middle of now where

Legal- i own is so I don't need a CDL. What else about it is not lelgal?

Would you haul it?

The way I've got it figured---your load is 16100 lb. Trailer= about 7000/with two 10000 lb axles, 6950lbs with three 7000 lb axles. Your trailer will be over by about 2000 lbs give or take alittle. No I would not pull it and I've pulled some pretty good loads but have always been legal. In Va. overloaded carries a right stiff fine. Make two trips and save you and your truck and money. MHO.

I tow a trailer with 2 12K axles and have no problems with our 3500 duallys... . we have power hyd disc brakes on the trailer... . we never go enough brakes with electrics to feel safe and than even with the disc brakes there is a short pause before they kick in..... in traffic there is what I call the pucker factor... when someone pulls into the open space in front of the truck... they are all gooseneck hitches rated at 30K lbs and the hitch in the bed of our trucks are bent up..... from the weight... .

We have air bags on the trucks to level them... and its slow going up hills...

We have CDL's and I'm guessing that if state police officer attached to the commercial division of your state sees you he'll ticket you for not having a CDL..... he would here in WA... . unless you have Farm Plates... at least that is the way it is here..... we drive in 6 western states and we've been stopped in at least each state 3 or 4 times a year checking on us... .

Now let me say if I was going say 100 miles, on a Sunday I'd do it... . no matter what ..... however on the other 6 days, and over 100 miles I do it knowing that he can ground you..... and fine you if you want... . even if later your in the right and it was an unjust ticket... look at the hassle... ...

One last thought... you can own it and not need a CDL If you don't make money with it..... hauling your personal household stuff, your travel trailer, etc... . but equipment is used to make money hence its commercial the way I see it... . after all, what are you going to do with it when you get where your going..... dig a ditch for a buddy... .

These are just my thoughts..... my 2 cents worth so to speak...

It depends on your local traffic cops, in the South you could get away with it if you were outside a large city. Stay under 26k if you don't have plates to cover the load. I keep my dually plated in Georgia, they don't have any weight restrictions up to 26K. Go over 26K and you could have a very bad day if pulled over. When your hauling tractors you will get more attention than say a 45' RV. :)

IL DOT enforcement officers are more numerous per mile of interstate highway than any other location in the nation. You will be inviting them to stop you and inspect your equipment and documentation.

If I was already in the middle of nowhere and had a short distance to go to another place in the middle of nowhere I might consider it. Otherwise, no I would not haul it. I would make two trips as advised or ask someone to help with the load one way.

That ain't nothing. . I'm don't want to know what my Toy Hauler weighs loaded. :D

My rig is about the same as yours empty. :D

If you headed into IN. A dually with a heavy plated goose neck will be pulled over. What your wanting to haul you will most likely be over on the dually axle weight or tire rateing.

A place I used to work at we had a Cat TH63 telehandler. It weighted in at 14,500# we couldn't scale out legaly with a 1 ton truck with a 22k dual tandem trailer.

In IN that dozer on the trailer and no company markings on the truck would get you pulled over to. The dozer would be seen as a company owned piece of equipment. Few people have a dozer for their personal use.

Split the load into two trips. I might be a lot cheaper in the long run.

What kind of TH do you have?

43' KZ New Vision with triple 7K axles, triple slide, thermo panes, dual airs, fuel station, washer and dryer etc... empty weight is 15,200. I haven't weighed it loaded with the bikes and full fuel yet. Its a heavy beast. It actually tows nice and stable.

Call up the DOT & speak to someone about your plans. I'm from the NW but it sure seems to me you could be asking for problems from "Johnny Law". Two trips sounds like it could be alot less painful financially if you get caught or were to god forbid have an accident. JMHO...
