Thanks. I start a nite shift tomorrow nite but I'll try to get to a dealer tomorrow in Fresno or Madera and see if they have one. I'll update as soon as I can. I can't shell out the dough til end of the week and, of course, the boss has to give her approval too. :-lafIf they are still open out there give them a call. I'll be in Bakersfield in a couple of days. If you can't get any positive answers and are willing to drive 159 miles I'll bring mine. I can get another. It was about $163 with tax.

My dash is mist gray, covered with a dash carpet, I use wind shield visor when parked, parked in the garage half the time, My dash looks like someone took a weed wacker to it. You could make a road map out of it. As for a reply from Grizzly about the dust causing the cracks because you need to keep it clean that is a crock of $H(t. Dust has nothing to do with it.
Hey Grizzly, you stated that if everyone kept there dashes clean they would'nt crack, like I said Bull, My dash is spotless and always has been but it still cracked, my truck is also parked in the garage 50% of the time. Sun shades used all the time when parked outside. Not trying to **** you off but accusing everyone with cracked dashes because they dont keep them clean is a remark myself and others dont like.
Well, they said Chrysler will provide the part free of charge all I have to do is pay for the labor$350. 00.
I ask for the part and I will install, they said no go!
I guess this ain't a bad offer on a 6 year old truck with 264K miles, though it would be nice if they would offer the part at COST and we could do the install ourselves.
I will probably do this: eBay Motors: 1998 1999 2000 2001 Dodge Ram Truck NEW Dash Overlay (item 160117763975 end time May-23-07 11:24:01 PDT)
I think this is the best after market product out.
I went to a Body shop and did not have to do the labor and I got off cheaper than that. This is one case for sure that after market parts are the way to go. Some of you have found good dealers but I never have. All I see is charge triple or more for parts and charge more than independent shops for labor. When I take my truck to a dealer which I absolutely will not do, not anymore. I know what the are thinking. He was stupid enough to buy a truck he does not know anything about he will be stupid enough to pay whatever we charge. I don't put up with, it I do not have to. If I break down in front of a dealer I call a tow truck to take me to an independent shop, warranty or no warranty. If I loose some warranty I, at least, did not put them in a position to have their way with me. When I buy from a dealer I buy for invoice or I do not buy from them. Once I have made a deal somewhere I never return. If I can't repair it I know honest independents who can. I do not expect anybody to agree with me. This is MY way of exercising MY freedom while I still have it.

I believe the dash cracks are due to parking in the Sun and the mats protect them. At least that is what a Body Shop told me where I have gone for many years. The owner belongs to a Motorcycle Club that I also belonged to. He has always told it like it is.Great, every time I spend some time over here I become aware of a new potential problem. I have a 2001 (MFR Date 2-00) and have had a dash mat on it since new. I just went out and carefully removed it and (whew!) no cracks--looks brand new still. It is camel color and I will put a thick layer of 301 protectant on it before I reinstall the dash mat again.
