Acu Temp Adapter

I plan on using this to monitor trans fluid temp.

Anyone have experience with this adapter?

got one on my 05 for about 6 months. works pretty damn good. the temp fluctuates, and seems to be very accurate, and best of all i wont have any warranty problems, becasue i guarantee they are gonna say that you messed the trans up by putting a different line in

For me, it seems it would be easier than switching the cooler line right now.

In One of the recent back issues of TDR magazine, somebody out there made a clamp for their sending unit. I tried it as my sending unit in the pan always read low temps. I went Lowes and bought a brass 1/2" "T" fitting and a reducer for the sending unit to fit into the top of the "T". With a hacksaw, I very carefully and slowly cut through the "pass through" section of the "T: fitting lengthwise so that when cut in half, one half had the the "upright" section of the "T" fitting and the other half was just that, a half of the tube. I went Radio Shack and bought heat sink grease and generously coated all the inside surfaces of the "T" fitting. I then clamped the "T" fitting to the transmission line nearest the front of the transmission using a set of worm gear clamps. I then squirted a dose of the heat sink grease into the part of the "T" fitting where the sending unit was going. Installed the sending unit and have been very happy with the results. I have not confirmed the temps yet but with the sender in the pan, the temps never came above 100 on my drive to work. Now they do. Seemed more realistic to me. I hope I did not muddy the waters here with my description of work! My final cost was under $10.

The brass tee I used has performed fine but there was a bit of work involved making it. The aluminum Acu Temp fitting would transfer heat even faster and should be a quick and easy install, fairly cheap. That's what I would use if I was starting over.



By the way, I towed my 5th wheel about 5K miles in the past month and was able to keep the transmission temp below 195* by watching the gauge and adjusting my foot on the petal. Ambient temps ranged up to 95* on the trip.
