Where do you guys find the codes? In the FSM?

I have been looking but found nothing. I cycled my ignition switch three times and have a code 55.

I'd like to know if I retrieved the code properly and what it means.

Thanks

Scott

FSM Chap 14 Pg. 96-97 lists the diesel engine Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). 55 is not listed. Here is the complete list:

11 No Reference signal during cranking

15 No vehicle speed signal

22 Coolant sensor signal too low or too high

23 Charge air temp. sensor voltage high or low

24 (Auto Trans only) TPS voltage high or low

33 A/C Clutch relay circuit

34 Speed control solenoid circuits

41 Generator Field not switching properly

42 Auto shutdown relay control circuit OR No ASD relay voltage sense at PCM

45 (Auto Trans only) Overdrive Solenoid

46 Charging System Volyage too high

47 Charging System voltage too low

53 Internal PCM failure

62 PCM failure SRI Miles not stored

63 PCM failure EEProm Write denied

You will get a 55 to signal the start of a self test and dump and a 55 to signal end of the test/dump. Anything in between is a error code, if all you have is 55's there are no codes.

Is there any way to clear the codes? I got a 15 and 24. One is no VSS signal; other is a TPS voltage high or low. (it was set to . 65volts at idle; key on, engine off). The no VSS signal is a duh!!- speedo isnt working.

On every car I've had, either pulling the ECU fuses or disconnecting the battery for a few minutes did the trick.

Yes the way to reset the error codes is disconnect the battery, then you will have a new code #12 which is battery has been disconnected then your standard #55 all clear.
