Dodge Nitro kills dog commerical

Any MRI technologists out there?

That brake vid is a real test, call it a test of all tests, but they say 9. 6 million ft/lbs of energy... . that's too low! Aren't fuse plugs nice to have!

Jim,

If the tires didn't have fuse plugs, would they have exploded lile a large bomb? I'll bet the tires are abour 6' tall. They look small in the video.

I don't know the tire size on that plane but note that it has triples on each main truck.

The fuse plugs are made into the wheel, there is a hole in the rim and the plug (fuse plug) is made of Lead so it will melt and deflate the tire. Yes the tires are like little bombs and the rims are a 2 piece design.

On the 707 the tire pressure is 195-205 and they are a 46 x 16 size..... imagine the power there!

BOTW, our max brake force is up to 42 million ft/lbs

One heck of a headwind!!

I had a friend that towed banners and I got a ride in his Cessna Birddog. He did a max perf takeoff and the ground roll was about 5 feet and it was like a helicopter from there. That thing could practically climb straight up hanging on the prop.

You'd have to have a really strong headwind to be off in 5 feet.

This last May in Valdez AK at the fly in, Cub Crafters showed up with their Carbon Cub (about 250K I think). Lightweight, hotrod Lycoming IO-360 (220hp) it got off in 18ft. This custom cub puts every other cub to shame.

His had a 285hp engine I think and it had a STOL kit installed. The Birddog weighs about 1600 lbs empty. There was a headwind but not a real strong one.

Cool vids... ... I love to look at sites like these! Sometimes the info isn't accurate but the pics are awesome. There are lots of crazy landing stuff out there and most of it causes a huge pucker factor.

Jim as you know the vid you psoted about above is a 757, this bird has some of the best T. O. and Landing performance around (for its weight). The reversers are power and the truck style landing gear really lets a pilot apply the brakes without needing the anti-skid. Dang nice plane to fly. I am looking forward to getting in the 787 when it gets on property next fall!

Doug, Let me know ahead of time when you guys come down! The only thing I have planned is a dyno event in Dallas on the 3rd of August.

The 787 would be a dream!
