I spoke with the guy who designed the FASS and inquired about installing it onto my truck. They have the proper equipment to do so, such as the fuel line (to bypass the OEM lift) the regulating spring (for proper fuel psi) and some other goodies. The pressure he recomended was 10psi from the FASS. This is not the max pressure. I wouldn't want to see over 15/18.

The problem with the FASS IMHO was the fact that it does not operate like the mechanical lift pump. The FASS pump will operate when the key is on and will not stop pumping fuel when the prerssure reaches a predertermined level. It's not sensing fuel psi in the way a fuel pressure regulator would.

It has it's good and bad points. I suppose it would work fine, however you'd have to justify the cost. That is the question.

:-laf :-laf

Oh yes... like any of the $$ we spend on bombing can really be justified. :-laf :-laf

well, lets see... . I really need these high performance injectors and the monster quick spool turbo because I can get to work 18 seconds faster... but oh yes I'll be friggin' up the transmission if I use the power so let me spend another 2 grand on upgrades there... ...

We can't justify any of it really... we just WANT it. And wants rule

DH, what kind of pressure are you seeing now? Stock lift pump? I've heard for big big power one would want to see no lower than 11psi at wot. But many have done well on the dyno with stock lift pumps which don't give much more than 7psi. I like my piston lift pump, it's sexy:D. You guys with your ugly stockers :-laf :p .

Well Said

Bill,

Your crazy you know that! ROFLMAO

I really DID need that Stage III upgrade though

You guys are simply too much!!!

I do not have a gauge on my fuel system yet, but I have laided off into her pretty hard a cuople of times and she died on me. I had to get out and reprime the stock lift pump and she would start right up again. This was a brand new on from Cummings. I don't mind spending the cash to get to the big numbers I just dont want to have to take two steps back in order to get to the numbers. My main goal is to join the 500-600 hp club and make a name for myself down here in the south. I live in a area where everybody likes the computer generation power. I would like to show up at a dyno and just be in the top three with a VE pump. Old School Power; thats what I am about. :D

Can you use a FASS and a fuel regulator? When we were street racing (i didn't say that!) :--) we used a holley blue pump w/ a regulator,we needed lots of fuel for nitrous. Can we use the same thing on a diesel? It would be a lot cheaper than a FASS,be something to think about.

P. S. I tell my wife it broke and I need to replace it,the new parts are better quality! ;) :D

the holley pumps are rotary vane pumps and i wouldnt use one

but i was thinking about something along those lines, maybe even a sys with a 3 port regulator and a return

i know, the ve already has a return, so that would be one supply line and two returns

i wonder if you could tee into the existing return with the fuel returning from the 3 port regulator???

I have had the best luck with a pump I got from Summit racing.

Made by Aeromotive. The Summit rep put me on a 3-way call with the tech guy at Aeromotive and he said thiers would have no problems running diesel and may actually last longer compared to gas or alky use.

I dont have the part # handy but it was $169. 00. I think they call it the street stock pump or something similiar. You have to look closely if you order cause they make two versions , 1 High pressure pump then 1 lower pressure ( the one I used).

I have a gauge and at wot it has never gone below 10psi. At light throttle or idle it sits right at 15.

It has seen daily use for several months now with no problems. I ran an Aeromotive on a gas truck for 5 or 6 years and it worked great, thats why I decided to try one out on the diesel.

i dont see why not

there is no restriction in the return line correct? ('92 model)

so here is what i am thinking - it sounds like they run best with 15 psi to the ve

so... . do away with the stock pump and filter, build a sys with a accel pump (100+ psi (when dead headed), ungodly gph), a 3 port mallory reg (set it at 15 psi), tie one of the ports into existing return, replumb the sys with blue hose and push lock fittings where applicable, new steel tubing everywhere else, and the thing will always have 15 psi to the ve

who makes a filter mount for one of those honkin fuel filters?

run it thru one of those and done deal

anyone want to buy a cummins fac replacement lift pump with <100 miles on it?

don
