What do they use and what kind of oil? I would like a Fleetguard.

My Brother in law was asking me today what filter it takes?

Also what kind of oil, is the Delo 400 o. k. ?

Thanks, Joe

Delo 400 is a good oil and you can find it just about anywhere. As for the filter, call your local Cummins dealer and they can tell you what you need.

The oil MUST be CJ rated for the 6. 7. 99% of all oils out there now is CJ, hard to find the old CI4+. I believe the same oil filter is used F16035.

I am using this filter from Geno's FLEETGUARD - OIL FILTER ('03-'07 DODGE) STRATAPORE-Dodge Cummins and Ford Power Stroke Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage which is a Fleetgurad LF16035. The '07' & '07. 5' with 5. 9 or 6. 7 both use the same oil filter according to my owners guide, Mopar #05083285AA. And I am using Delo 400 LE CJ4 rated oil, thats a 'J' not an 'I'.

Joe I just got off the phone with cummins down here, the lf16035 stratapore oil filters that i used for my 04. 5 are the exact same part number for the 07. I just need to find that thread on here to see if the people are still having a problem after they drain there oil and refill it with 12 quarts if there still have a problem with it being 1-2 quarts overfilled.

Now to go get some rotella.

Why not get the oil and filters from the dealer?

I did not price anywhere else but I think I paid 8. 00 each for the filters and 12-13 each bottle of oil this way you know you get the correct stuff

and they can never fight a warranty claim becuase of improper oil or filter

there is no shipping. they deliver it to me as well which saves on fuel

not sure if they do this for non shops

I have a question, why is there not a Fleetguard Venturi™ Combo - lube filter for the 6. 7 which by its specifications of a combined Full Flow and By-Pass configuration would remove most of the soot contamination generated by the anti-pollution equipment and provide a longer oil drain interval. Currently the EVIC will show oil change required after a nominal 3000 miles (and this is without any idiling time, and all hwy driving at a nominal 60 MPH (1600 RPM) the current reflash is running the Active Regeneration to the point the oil is being super contaminated and needs a different approach than the standard Mopar 5083285AA or Fleetguard LF16035. The CJ-4 oil is a very high grade diesel oil designed to accomodate the new EPA requirements as well as provide backwards compatibility however even it has limits of how much soot it can hold in suspension. The people at Fleetguard tell me that the engine will not support an external By-Pass filter as it will drop the oil pressure, then if this is true I suggest they send some of their high priced engineers back to the design board and come up with suitable filters which will keep this engine clean and even allow the engine to idle longer than 5 minutes without contaminating the oil and clogging up the Exhaust Aftertreatment equipment.

You paid 12-13 bucks per quart of oil?

I hoped they lubed first before sticking it in. Holy hell.

Just get a CJ4 spec oil and you will be more than fine. Wow.
