What is the future of Smarty?

Phil, I can't walk on water and I can't bat 100%. Lets start out on the right foot.

I'm pretty sure what Phil means, is that while a higher top speed might make a FEW Smarty owners happy, there are more significant, long discussed, issues far more needful/worthy of MADS attention... ;):D

Gary point taken and come on man we have heard the masses but give me a break and show me another company that can take us to another level for the next generation :)

This has never been done and we can take it to the next level.

The low smoke and such will be a piece of cake

All I want is the abs tire size changing stuff on the stock sw, other than that I am good with how my truck runs and don't need any other changes to the current sw. PRout you also have a point, I too really have no desire to go over 113 either, but I too appreciate the 2nd gen attention.

OK, don't know if this is a " like to have post " but here go's

I don't need any more fueling than stock,
Like the fuel saver BUT, to aggressive for 'Loaded' and much to aggressive for
off road ( can't keep foot still on washboards)

? Some less aggressive timing settings with no fueling . ?

Did notice less smoke with new 190 degree thermostat...

I'd be happy to get the power levels and responsiveness we have now without the smoke. As it is on my stock powertrain, I can slip the clutch on SW1. Maybe I need to download a different program. I'm using the one it came with in June (S06 model).

I agree with the above, tire size changes should be maintained when switched back to stock SW.

Bob, really, in spite of my own minor Smarty issues, I've done my best to maintain a lower profile here than usual, while providing a bit of verbal support to both you and Marco. We all certainly agree about what is undoubtedly a horrendous development and production load for all of you as newer trucks and their accompanying changes in technology siphon off MADS focus and product development. It's just been troubling that we 2nd generation Smarty owners ended up paying the price for that diverted and delayed focus to OUR expectations.

The latest promises of a return of that focus and workload IS good news for us all, and have for the moment delayed my own intention of selling my own Smarty - let's all hope the end result is fully worth the wait!

My earlier comment you refer to was not intended as another log on the fire, just trying to keep comments and replies all on track - I still have great hopes - AND expectations - for 2nd generation Smarty program development. Knowing Marco's genius along these lines, I'm sure the vast majority of major concerns and disappointments WILL be addressed and corrected.

After all, it's in the best interest of MADS to accomplish this, not only for current Smarty owners - but future ones as well...

Cheers - AND support! Oo. :DOo.

Bob, can you PM me and tell me a few things about Smarty and the EFI Live/SCT programming the "others" have? I know the basics, and love my Smarty, but a comparison would be nice. As far as I know, Smarty makes the most HP and speed limiter is soon to be upped.

Thanks, Nick

My experience with controls software engineering often goes like... .

"Hey, could I get this changed to that?"

<2 minutes>

"Here you go, test it out!"

"Hey, could I get this changed to that?"

<2 months 4 months 6 months>

"Very little progress, but I am working hard on this for you. "

From my end user perspective both examples seem just as easy, but for the software engineering the difficulty might be miles apart.

That's it basically for me. With a stock clutch and my constant load,30hp w/greatly diminished smoke would be heaven. For some reason,my particular program gives me a noisier idle.

What is Smarty Jr? This is the first I've heard of it. Is it something that must be added to Smarty? Like a box? What are some features?

It is a 3-level, 30-60-100 hp downloader/programmer for towers or people not wanting a hot-rod, but just a pumped up truck. Plus they will be cheaper.

Will the non-smokers please rise!

After reading these posts for all these months it seems we have the non-smoking section and the smoking section. :)
