Who makes fuel tank vent?

Hey fellas,

I was wondering if any of you remember who makes the fuel tank vent hose relocator kit? It is supposed to allow you to fill the fuel tank to the top with out having to wait, what is it, maybe 10 minutes for all the foam to go down? I believe it was a member. Anyhow, I'd appreciate any help.

Dave's kit is great. I waited a year before I did it. That was a mistake. I would never go back to an un-vented tank.

I do have about an array of Snap-On hand tools (sockets, ratchets, screwdrivers etc) but no specialized tools. Also, all I have for help is my 17 year old son and maybe my wife. I appreciate it if the members that have done it chime in with some install tips. Thanks.

I think because Chrysler uses the same tank for Gas/Diesel trucks... . gas does'nt foam, no problems... . diesel foams, we stand there for a half-hour trying to top off!!

Thanks for all of the replys. I was wondering which kit is better? The kit with brass fittings, or the kit with plastic fittings? Glacier has the brass, and Diesel Max has the plastic.

Dave (Spooled-up) invented the kit. All the others are copycats.



I bought and installed Dave's kit before anyone else was selling one. If I had to do it again, I'd still go with the guy that did all the designing and research.



My truck now has almost 100,000 miles and his kit has been and install-and-forget mod, except for the fact that I think about it every time I fill up.

The first versions of the kit had 1/2" hose and the vent line came from the top of the tank and went into a "T" fitting in the stock vent line. The kit was like this for the first 6 months or so. I then found some larger bulkhead fittings and decided to cap off the stock vent and relocate it to the highest part of the tank. This is the larger hose version you are talking about. It's the same size as the stock vent at 3/4" inside diameter abrasion resistant hose. It's good stuff.



The reason for the Vinyl fittings is for diesel fuel compatibility. When you look at the Chemical compatibility charts, Brass is not compatible with Diesel fuel at something like 72 degrees and above. I know that this makes no sense since companies like FASS and Glacier use Brass in their fuel systems with no problems, but I wanted the kit to be compatible in real life and on paper. I've had no probems with the nylon fittings except for a few that were defective a couple of years ago that broke when tightened I sent out new ones to replace them and problem solved.

I think they wanted to leave room for fuel expansion as well. They just didn't need to leave 2. 5 - 3 gallons of it! Diesel fuel coming from the ground at 50 degrees and then heated to 100 degrees in a truck parked in the desert in the hot sun will expand by . 8 gallons in a 35 gallon tank. I've never had a drop of fuel leak out of my tank filled to the top with and without the kit which leads me to believe that just the sides of the tank flexing is enough to make up the . 8 gallons (and the fact that I don't live in the desert!) If you're still concerned about fuel expansion, I recommend that you fill your tank until the pump clicks off and you'll have some room for expansion, but still have more fuel in your tank than with the stock vent system.

There have been several times I have put over 36 gallons in my 35 gallon tank, but it takes FOREVER! I've gone back in to pay and they even mention how long it takes. I like to have fuel in the filler neck, especially when I know I'm going to be driving for a long time. That extra gallon or two has saved my bacon more than once. I have thought about this kit more than once. Might be my fall project.
