WOW! That's HORRIBLE!!! :-laf

Hmmmm, maybe its time for me to extend out past 10k???
Did you have TBN done by chance?? Mine was still 8. 8 with the 8234 miles on the oil...

Nice wear numbers, lots of variations in fe wear, must be based on the load your carrying.
Could be, or maybe even the heat range.
I know this last sample got hot. Either the guy who works on my truck when I'm pressed for time, or myself left a corner of the fan shroud out of it's slot before I headed to the Rockies last time ... ..... it got hot enough for the check gages to come on for the first time ever. I fixed that before I came out here on this trip.
I'll be curious to see your TBN number...

Curious what the extra lead is all about.

Hmmm, as suspected... probably get around 35k to 40k on an OCI before TBN became an issue...
And considering most OTR truck only do 25k OCIs, I don't see where the TBN is going to be an issue...
Its not a linear drop for sure... almost "levels out" after a while...

Dunno how reliable it is, but the usually accepted yardstick for TBN in used oil indicating need for a change, is when it drops to half of it's original level - which seems to be about where the above report is - but a decent report just the same.
All of my whopping two reports indicated a TBN of 1. 0 was the threshold... anything above that was serviceable.
Why would half of the TBN be a yardstick?? If there is still measurable TBN, then the TBN is still capable of neutralizing acids???

My NAPA MANAGER finally said he can get the PB classic oil now... Phheeewwwww The CJ oils are just fine but if you have the choice to go with the otherm then I am going to do it...
My own extended oil usage with Delo CI lube - 20K - came back with a TBN of 8. 5 as I recall, and pretty close to new stuff right outta the can, and THAT I can live with without question or concern!![]()
Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd rather this didn't turn into a CI+4 or Classic Blue thread
I just didn't want to see this turn into another thread about P/N's and availability locations for CI rated oil. I'm not wasting time tracking down a dying breed.I agree - but then too, posting analysis results DOES lead to comparisons, especially since there exists fairly widespread concerns as to the level of engine protection the CJ stuff provides. In your example (undoubtedly offered at least in part to counter those concerns!) and analysis, the CJ seems very adequate in all areas but lead - and that may well simply be a one-time anomaly...
