Wheres the best place to find leather seat covers for the 40/20/40 seating? Im looking for black leather to put on over all my seats. Any suggestions?

another option...

Another option is to look for a local upholstery shop that does restorations, etc. Here in Reno there are three or four shops (many classic car business associated with "Hot August Nites" and other classic car events in town) that I've used for smaller 'patch' type repairs and the price is right and you help out local shops. Don't know what extent of damage you are addressing but it's an option. I've had great success with my drivers seat bottom and you can't tell it from new.

i saw this post and i was thinking about redoing my seats. Im wondering if anyone has done it and if so is it fairly easy . any info would help a great deal thanks

I just got the leather seats from leatherseats.com, brought it to an upholstery shop and they installed the leather seats, leather in the door panels, headliner and visors. The ToolManTimTaylor and I put in the woodgrain dash stuff. Came out sweet.

im thinking about getting it and was wondering... . how much did the leather shop charge you to put it in? Also di it include something for the center console and do you think that you could put it in yourself?

If I were to have my seats redone in leather, and I would love to, I would not put that kind of money into them unless I could also get new seat "buns". My driver's seat is getting pretty thin (ouch!). They make them for classic cars like Camaros, but I don't know of any sources besides perhaps the Dreaded Dodge Dealer to get them for newer vehicles like ours. New springs may well be in order, too. Again, they are available aftermarket for classic cars. Ours?

I also need new hardware and cable and bezel for the automatic "tip-and-slide-forward" mechanism for my passenger seat in my extended cab.

Here's a good monkey wrench of a question..... what if you have the built-in seat heaters? Does leatherseats or katzkin make those?

I don't recall exactly what it cost, but it seems like it was a couple hundred bux. I got seat heaters from Geno's garage and put them in at the same time. I suppose if you had the hog ring pliers and a lot of patience you could do it yourself. I just didn't want to invest money into all that and not have it come out the best it could. My driver's seat was shot foam-wise, and the interior guy fixed that while he was at it.

So do the aftermarket seat heaters just plug right in to the factory harness? When I push the driver's seat heater button, it just blinks. The owner's manual says to take it to Dodge for diagnosis, but I really don't feel like paying Lithia $85/hr to hear that my seat heater has a short. So if there is a short in the butt-part of the seat, I'm assuming that the back of the seat won't work either?

No, my 94 wasn't wired for heated seats. So I had to go get the power someplace. It was so long ago, I don't remember what I tapped into. I have the factory manual with all the schematics. I usually just sniff around for a circuit that doesn't appear to be heavily loaded, or related to anything propulsion-critical.

I've been gradually having my (01 Dodge) interior redone with a high quality black "leatherette". I started with the seats & just recently bought some more of the same material for the center console & door panels... the prices for leather just didn't make sense to me & my recollection was that BMW or somebody had used leatherette...

Call your local Dodge dealer & ask who they use for reupholstery work & go get a direct bid after selecting a material from their sample books (I looked for color AND texture to match/compliment the dash, door vinyl etc. ).

If you have a favorite body shop, they might be especially clued in to who's good amongst your local reupholsterers, too.

My truck is already wired for and has heated seats. I'm just wondering if the aftermarket heaters that you velcro/glue to the seat will plug into the factory harness... . my leather is still in like new condition.
