IT STILL WORKS!

If you have Cruise Control, you don't need the clutch switch kit. You just need one of the pins with approx. 10" of wire attached. The ECM "B" plug is the 50 pin plug on the ECM closest to the firewall. The front plug is a 60 pin plug . The ECM is on the drivers side of the engine NOT the firewall. FROM the outside of the "B" plug, hole 22 is 2nd from the left top, third hole down. Take the plug loose GENTLY with 4 MM allen wrench. I used a pair of very fine needle nose pliers and pulled the tiny rubber plug out of pin 22 hole from the OUTSIDE. THen from the OUTSIDE,gently put the pin with approx 10" of wire attached into the hole and push in until it locks/detents in place. You can push the rubber plug out from the engine side of the plug with a small paper clip straightened out. Screw the plug back in place with the allen wrench until nice and tight. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN You might break/strip something. Attach the end of the 10" wire to the ground/mounting bolt on the right side of the ECM. PTO/high idle has to be enabled by the dealer . Start the truck with PARK BRAKE ON. Turn on the cruise then hit the SET and it should idle up to 1100 RPM. You can increase or decrease with the ACCEL or DECELL switch on the right side of the steering wheel. Hit Cruise again to turn it off or touch the brake pedal. It took a lot longer to type this out than it did to install it!

It is not necessary to have the parking brake on, the feature will work at any time that the accelerator and brake pedals are in their rest position (and clutch if you have the switch). I got stuck in traffic for 35 minutes and used this feature when stopped in place. It was better than shutting the truck off and re-starting every time the traffic started to move.

According to Marco the Smarty has the Manual high idle program in it. Also he said it should work on the 2003s. I looked in my tech manual for the 50 way ECM plug C2 Connector Pin out and pin #22 is blank. I think I will give it a try and will report back.

Well... . did you try it on your 03? Does it work?

I just checked with cummins here locally in MN and they have the part for $12 still and it's got a new number just in case 3164263

I'm going to pick this up tonight :)

Hi, again,

Does anyone know and has had sucess and activating this feature

on an 04. 5 manual?

Thanks, Marv

We'll find out shortly. I've never really found a thread that said "YES" this will be the one. :) I have the cummins part in hand. And Smarty loaded in the ECM (it should have the high idle software enabled).

yes it works for 04. 5 :)

With the smarty in control the ECM anyhow.

This is going to be niiiiice this winter with the good possibility of not blockheater plugin's at this new job..... :(

It works for 06 too!!

A $12 wire, smarty and about 10 minutes!

Whats really cool is my pacbrake stays on up to 1100 rpms. Thats going to mean extra fast warm ups.

Making money

Geeez... 12 dollars... . its still cheap but if anyone is around louisville ky... local KW dealer sells them for $4. 12. But heck 20 bucks is even better than a 200 dollar clutch switch!!!!

I assume 2003 trucks are no-go?

The last I heard a late 2003 with the correct update, never could get an update number, would add the needed feature and it would work. Otherwise, the feature was not there in the programming so no worky.
