I have one. It works well, but doesn't quite do everything that is advertized. It does not monitor RPM. It does not have an option to control my Banks PDA. The end of the installation instructions say I can purchase data logging software to record sensor data for a period of time, but that software does not seem to be available, and I have not recieved any e-mail back from the company on it's status. I purchased the system mainly for the rail press gauge, and that part seems to be working fine.

We never said we can control the Banks PDA.

I can control the 6 Gun however. There is an adapter that is needed but, that is up and working as advertised.

The RPM is not supported as we have been working on a couple of other options to use that wire for. The feeback we have recieved is that having RPM was not a big deal and would not be use much and was sort of an afterthought.

The only thing that kept me from buying a commander for a buddies 2006 dodge cummins truck was in the installation instructions it says you have to scotch lock a wire:rolleyes: Come on, todays technology and you still have to scotch lock wires. #@$%!

Man, I really like the Commander. Good size, easy to read, mounts really nice, controls my module, defuel features. The only thing I really wished it had would be a cool down timer. If you could get it with that, it would be the heat. Scotty

How do you "scotch lock" wires?

I'm looking very seriously at buying a Commander and just wanted to know what I'm getting into.

A scotch lock is a wire tap. It is a foldable piece of plastic with a divider in it. The tapped wire goes in one side, and a non-stripped end of the wire you're tapping goes in the other side, parallel. It folds over and locks, then a blade is pushed down to pierce the wires and make a connection.

I used it because I was in a hurry to hook it up and haven't soldered or used a better connector yet.

I swore that I was not going to mod my truck this time. Well... ... . I did want some gauges because I tow a lot... ... ... ... I just got the Comander in the mail under the recomendation ogf DPPI. (Ihave bought a lot of mods for my 04 from them). As I have been waiting for the comander I have been reading a lot of threads over on DTR and can't believe how many good coments there are on all Quadzilla products, and the customer service claims are 2nd to none. If someone has a question qzilla always seems tio chime in. Can't wait to install the Comander this weekend... ... ... ... ... and now I am trying to decide on the XZT or Xzillerator. Anybody have a suggestions ?

I have the standard Xzillaraider and with the 30HP setting it works great for pulling my toyhauler. If I am driving mostly empty I mess around with the 60-100HP settings, but I like the box for the 30HP setting. Hardly any smoke and great power for towing. 60 and 100 smoke more than i like, but it fairly controllable. Mileage is a wash, the truck did over 20MPG before I installed anything, I can't really say the box added much. i still get between 650-750 per tank depending on driving conditions (empty). Overall, it is a great product and installs really easily. Scotty

There is more to it than just technology. We could hook it up to the OBD port and report slow, unreliable data. Data that can be easily fooled and flat out wrong when used in combination with most commonly used performance products. This is why we tap the wire. It gives us flexibility to make sure you always get the correct reading.

Secondly, if we had 20 part numbers for every vehicle the cost would go up and it would be difficult for the product to be stocked and distributed. So doing it this way saves the customer money. Also, if you have it on a 2002 truck and want to move to a 2007 truck you can do so with the same exact parts you have on the 2002. No need for a new wiring harness. No need for additional hardware. Everything is crossover compatible.

Here is the Awesome news.

We have part# that will be released in the next week or so that allows you to purchase a set of plug that have a built in tap to go with your Commander. This keeps you from tapping any wire and it makes the Commander 100% plug and play. Of course you have to buy this option but, it is not all that expensive. It would just be too expensive to have 20 COmmander part numbers.

Now, each truck model will have its own plug and play kit part # so if you swap trucks you might have to buy a new plug and play kit.

Ex:

98-00 Dodge Kit

01 Dodge Kit

02 Dodge Kit

02-07 Dodge Kit

You get the idea.

This will get you a MAP sensor connection and a Coolant connection. We are debating on whether to force you to buy a rail pressure connection or not on the CR trucks.

When can they start shipping? I have my comander and just haven't had the time to install it yet and i like the idea ofnot having to tap any wires. an I second the cool down timer.

Any more word on the below info? I'm kinda waiting to purchase my Commander until I can get the plug set also.

We have part#'s but the lead time is still not definitive. We are waiting on our connector supplier to let us know how long that will be!

As soon as I know we will let you guys know and I will have it up on our website.

I am one of the ones who likes the Quad products. I've run both the Quad Standard and Quad Race on my '03. Great performance boxes.

With the '03, and now with my '07 the only thing keeping me from having a Commander was the fact that I need to tap wires. I'm not into that, not in the least. I want everything to plug in so I can put it back to stock if necessary. I also don't want the factory wires to corrode due to moisture let in by the scotchlock connector.

Seeing as I don't have gauges yet along with the news in this post, I think Quad has sold another Commander...

But I think I read somewhere there's a newer model coming soon, same features, but new case?

On edit:

I definitely want a rail-pressure pigtail. Well, I guess I can always tap the MP-8 harness as I did in my old truck, but I'd rather have a plug.

We just installed the XZT2 w commander in an 06, nice install. i was very suprised with the amount of power and lack of smoke. For a 65hp box it felt more like a 100hp+ box. It boosted the stock turbo up to 45lbs quick and would hold it there as long as you wanted. No codes and pretty cheap. I have the EDGE juice hot version and allthough its not he same truck (stock 4x2-vs-lifted 4x4) the quad box was almost as fast as the edge.

But the Quad seemed to have more low end response than the edge.

I'm ready to buy a Comander for my 07 6. 7. Just a couple questions. First, will installing this void the warranty? Both factory and Dodge extended? Second, are the plug and play adapters ready yet? I'd rather not splice into factory wires. Thanks.

The Commander by itself won't void your warranty. It will, however, raise suspicion by the service writers/managers at your dealership.

I had one guy try to tell me that they were going to void my warranty on my '03 because of my Westach Boost/EGT gauge. I had a talk with his supervisor and corrected that!

I later pulled in to the same dealer for another issue with tons of mods, and they never mentioned anything. It depends on the dealer.
