Intake Manifold Tests Complete

What is the future of Smarty?

Sorry for not checking in sooner. We tried a couple of things but the testing for the vp44 truck did not go as far as we would have liked too.

We dyno tetsed for close to 12 to 14 hrs per day for 6 full days.

We thought we had the 4k rev limit it would free rev to 4k but it would not hit 4 k on the dyno

sorry.

The plan is to keep on working on the vp44 softwares as time allows.

I wish I had more at this time.

fire away

Bob, Thanks for the straight answer.

I understand this may be asking for a lot but going to ask a straight out question and then leave it alone. .

I'm wondering if there is any way to do something like was suggested above by adding a setting for stock sw with the abs and boost fooler? We are thinking this might not require re-inventing the wheel by either using sw#2&3 without any added timing or fueliing.

I would really like to have the next logical step down from the 4&5 level. Since there is 8&9 for racing, 6&7 for medium added "catcher" mapped fueling, 4&5 for mild catcher (which is almost perfect for my setup).

I would like to keep that pattern of stepping down and just add the "baby catcher" settings of sw2&3 (basically using the same smooth themes of the higher catchers, just one step milder than the rest as the next logical step down from sw 4&5. )

For a lot of us, that might be a real improvement for a big amount of the issues that have been brought up in the past (smoke on mild take-offs, surging cruise, etc).

The Smarty is a great concept because it eliminates the need for an added or 2 extra boxes (timing / boost fooling) as it is done seamlessly in the ecm.

I will continue to use the smarty just for that reason alone (less electronics & seamless integration into the system).

Im hoping just one of the minor tweaks above could be implemented without needed travel and testing by mads. I and others are willing to do the beta testing if we could just get these minimal software changes in our hands.

That would be fantastic. .

Thanks,
Phil

New software is nice!. Injector rattle is mostly gone.

Still lacking in power from 3000-3450. The power is smooth tho. Slight haze like the last software.

the highway opened up for like a mile on my way to work (retards just need to get outa the left lane!).

so I took advantage, drop to 5th and let'er rip. about 115 I let off and back down with PLENTY of room and time. I did get some retard in a honda SUV beeping at me from the right lane. WTF? Again, I forgot to "beep" back with the train horns

Anywho. Much improved software.

Don't look at me! :) It's Bob and/or Marco's call here :)

Now that I got my TST box working... . I'm going to have some fun! :)

With this beta is it more appropriate for the Smarty to do the timing? or the TST box?

I have always wound up using my TST for timing on all previous Smarty versions ran. I did start with my normal TST doing timing and Smarty #6. It seemed fine and smoother than others. But then I decided to turn the TST off and see what the Smarty timing would do. I am running #9 and it is smoother than with the TST I believe. I do still have the EZ on level 1, but I have not had it off the truck with any stack or by itself for 3 years now. I will run it this way for a few more days to be sure how it does, but for now I think mine likes the new Smarty timing, at least for daily driving.

The dynamic timing of the smarty should be the best in most cases. Marco does not have to follow the timing map he just rewrites the timing curve.

An add on box can only add a certain percentage of timing the the stock timing curve.

I'm stilling having issues with my TST box. I can't get it to do much by it's self.

however, I did have the smarty on 9 when I re-wired in the TST box lastnight and Turn the TST timing off, move it up to 2/0 and things ran very well. I was excited, TST box fixed.

So this morning I put the smarty down to 2 with intentions to have some adjustability and the TST is acting up again (I tuned it's timing on again). Talked with Mark, no blown fuses... I'm going to try the by-pass harness to see if things get back to normal and then fire the smarty back up again

Keep in mind, my original harnesses, when I installed the by-pass, I experienced the same funky results! How odd! I would lose rail pressure to like 7,000 and the truck would miss all over the place. Unplug the cam and crank sensors and all is fine.

Bob, do you know if the beta software is in fact running no timing on even numbers? I read a comment some place on some forum that the beta softwares were pertly much only #9. I got the latest one form you from a few days ago.
