It's been a year since I put my 07 cab and chassis to work. It now has 89,756 miles on it. According to my log book, 89% of these miles have been towing a goose neck trailer that weighs a little over 7500 lbs empty. (I just bought a new one yesterday that weighs about 9k empty) The maximum payload I put on it is 15,000 lbs so most of the time the truck has between 7500 and 22,500 behind it. Mileage is averaging 10. 1 with the trailer and the times I've checked it running bobtail it averages about 15. 8, it has been as high as 16. 6 on a long interstate run. I had no problems at all until I reached 50k miles when I had a no start problem. It was intermittent and the dealer I bought the truck at started guessing at and put a flash on it that killed the regen on it totally, plugged it completely up. I got it to another dealer and the tech got it to regenerate again after a couple of days and many calls to star. I was still having a no start problem until it finally set a light and code. Turned out to be a throttle control valve, it was replaced and the truck has run perfectly every since. The Aisin transmission and exhaust brake makes towing a trailer almost fun. The truck has plenty of power stock to do what I need to do. (oilfield hotshot) I have had none of the emissions problems that the pickup models have had, not counting the one tech induced problem. I have had to run the LSD from time to time when I was in an area that didn't have ULSD and the truck seems to tolerate it OK.
I guess to sum it up, after the first year, I am very happy with the cab and chassis. It has done everything I wanted and with the long wheel base is much more comfortable to drive than my 03 was. I see there is another thread asking would I "do it again". In my case, the answer is definitely YES!
