Just talked to a friend with an 03 tonight about his and he had to get the dealer to get his working. Not sure if there was a problem or just not active.



So maybe I am half wright or 1/2 rong. :-laf



I admit to not having all the facts.

No worries... probably had an issue with his... similar to my "auto-unlock" not working... dealer couldn't figure it out and since I am out of warranty I just disabled the "auto-lock"...

One thing I find interesting is that all the info I have read on the Smarty Jr says it enables the 3 cylinder fast idle. . yet this is not a feature of the CR, it stopped being available in 03... so either I am missing something or they mean it enables the manual fast idle, and we know that to be true.

I also noticed this when looking around the web. Several sites listed the Smarty Jr. as enabling the 3 cylinder fast idle. I also thought that this was only with the 2nd Gens. Maybe they are just using the wrong terminalogy.

my guess is auto idle up... IIRC the 03 is not capable of the manual fast idle.

The auto idle up worked in my truck without any update 04. 5. Only noticed it a few times since I live on the Leftcoast near the ocean , doesn't seem to ever get cold enough. The feature the smarty jr. does is the high idle using the cruise control to set it. Hope this helps.



P. S. very happy with Jr. it has saved me 160. 00 in reflash for tire size and high idle

I would assume that the most recent program provided would include this feature. THAT SUCKS!:{ Any info on this would be good. I will install it any way. My truck will not let me hold off!:-laf

Mine came in on monday and Ive been tooling around town in the tow haul program. its kick butt! I love it! smooth power and no issues! well worth the money!!!!Oo.

I thought I read before at least on the regular Smarty that this feature was not enabled. Can't gurantee it though.



Also, I was wondering what degree of Tq Mang't the Jr. came with? I looked on MADs site and saw only the standard version listed and I wasn't sure what that meant.

I went out to try mine and that feature doesn't seem to be there. Thank God

My wife and I were coming back from the dump today in the truck. I had my car haul trailer hooked up and we were sitting at a signal light. The Left lane that I was in went straight through. The right lane had to merge into the left lane. Along my right side is this red MAZDA rice rocket.
The light switched GREEN and he was off. I started off in second and poured on the COAL! my truck pulled like a monster! This guy was giving it all he was worth and guess who was the leader.

VERY IMPRESSIVE performance on the 70hp setting. When I left the dump, I got an EMPTY weight of my truck and trailer of 9360lbs! I bet that MAZDA weighed all of 3000lbs.

Absolutely without question disconnect any chip, box, or module before downloading any programmer.



You could possibly run your XZT after you download your smarty. Timing might be too much but the only way to tell would be to try it and listen for too much timing rattle.



You could always send your XZT back to quadzilla power and have them put in the stacking tune. quadzilla will do it for free you just have pay shipping both ways. This would be pressure only for the XZT. I hear the combination of the smarty and a pressure module is unbeleavable.

Now it's at 22-23. Smoke is lower with the Smarty and the boost seems to build sooner, but it doesn't have the fun kick that the XZT did.

Enabled the fast idle feature today. I got the superceded part number pin from Cummins. NEW part #3164263.
It was a bit of a bear to get the pin to lock down into the #22 pin position. I CAREFULLY used a large paperclip to push the pin into place and lock. I grounded it on a ground stud on the firewall side of the ECM.

BOB: Sorry about being a PITA asking where the HIGH IDLE enablement was on the JR. I didn't know it was inbedded in the JR software.

Just a suggestion... . You might list that it is in the software on the instructions. THANKS to ALL on help on our trucks!!!

You have a bad boost guage or a leak,These 3rd gen trucks hit 30 lbs boost stock. I always could see 30-32 lbs stock. With my Smarty Jr on level 1 I have hit 34 and it spools much faster now.

I could be wrong and I probably am, but I think that only the '04. 5 and newer engines have that much boost stock. I thought the older ones didn't as much boost as the 325/600s.

I have an 04. 5 and I could usually see close to 30 lbs stock if I put my foot into it. Now with Smarty Jr on level #2 and a 35 lb boost gauge, I can easily bury it past the 35 mark. I think Jr on level 2 is quite impressive.
