Just my thoughts

I have just purchased what should be a similar unit on ebay from moparmaniac. Which he is calling Coolertubz. He has a buy it now unit for $180. He has 1stgen, 12v,and 24v. I like it. However, this seems like a better deal. If the person that builds these is using polished ss and cleans the welds up. I spent about an hour and a half cleaning the weld up inside of mine. The stock intake on my 12v at the smallest point is 2. 25" square. That's about 5. 06sqin. The grid heater is the next smallest point @ around 8sqin. The I. D. of mine is 2. 75". The area is 8. 635squin . The O. D. is 3" which matches the boot. You will also need some sort of seem that will help hold on the boot so it will stay on when boost is applied.
Hopefully I have helped.
There seemed to be a slight increase in spoolup?

* The area of a circle can be found by multiplying pi ¶ (which is equal to 3. 14) by the square of the radius
* If a circle has a radius of 4, its area is 3. 14*4*4=50. 24
* If you know the diameter, the radius is 1/2 as large.

With tubing it is a general practice to roll a bead on the tube to help with hose retention and add a bit of strength.

Bob

P. S the flow bench is ready ;)

When welding ss tube it will help to have the inside of the tube filled with an inert gas to protect the weld area from absorbing contaminates.

I am starting to get reports of the thread inserts pulling out of the composites

Bob

Sorry about the delay. been very busy> I'll keep and eye out for that thread issue . I'm more than a little concerned with mine putting preasure on the master cylinder. I will change it back to the oem. Dave

Is this a show only piece or is there a claimed performance enhancement?

Matt, Is this directed at me or Stefan? If its for me, Yeh there were some increased flow claims but I bought it primarily for the bling. At my Hp rating I don't think the extra flow will be noticable. Wouldn't recommend composites for off road use .

Sorry Stefan, Didn't intend to highjack the thread:eek:

Matt,

Love the composite look. It is styled like the 24 valve intakes (mine is a 12 valve) It was supposed to fit mine and it does ----except it rubs on the master cylinder. Don't know if they sent me the wrong one or not. I bought it over the internet and can't get a response from outfit that sold it. I think it will rub a hole all the way through soon.

DBrickle call the CFM+ direct , they will help you with any questions you may have, ask for Kirk, he's the owner.

Thanks. Actually I did just that a few days ago and haven't heard back from them yet. I'm trying to be patient. I don't know what they can do at this point Being as I purchased it from a Ebay vendor. I think I am done with Ebay.

I got the piece with pics now just don't know how to post them, if someone knows how I could e-mail them if they could post it. If anyone can help me please let me know. You should see the penetration on the inside, its incredible.

Use the "go advanced" button below the message window and then use the "manage attachments" button under additional options and then use the "choose file" button and then the choose the jpg or image which you want to load. I managed to do it the first time I tried. Look forward to seeing the pix of the intake horn!!

E-Mail them to me I will post them up for you.

Bob

Bob, I will send them to you by the end of the day.

Its amazing the difference on quality when you back purge weld. After seeing one of the companies that built a fabricated system welds from the inside I knew this was a process that was mandatory.
