Had my truck in for an oil change last week and they said no update. I have the AV, I heard we were already up to AW or AX and that mileage was better with the new one. What is the latest?

Just had the AV removed and the AX put on i notice the engine runs smoother and on my 20 mile drive the mpg went up to 19mpg on the hwy where before I was not able to get more than 16 or so on the hwy

VIN specific reflash

Jeepstang,

Guess you're lucky, called my service department today and they told me that whether you get the AX reflash depends on your VIN. I know when I had mine in two weeks ago for an oil change the AX was supposedly out but they told me there were no updates for my truck. I'm guessing my VIN is not on that list. Now if someone can explain to me why Dodge is limiting reflash updates that improve performance and mileage by VIN, I'd be happy to try an understand. Especially now that diesel prices are soaring thanks to all the recession talks.

The flashes are not by vin, your dealer needs to know your current software# to know if there is an update availible.

Bob

There is no TSB for the latest software version. They can only pull the software version installed on your vehicle with the dealer equiptment "scan tool" the as I understand it since there is no TSB they will not get paid to do it for you. This may be why they will not do it.

I assume there will be a TSB for it soon. I am lucky that I have friends that work at three local Dodge dealerships so it's never an issue for me.

The Chrysler corp needs a concern on the repair order that will be fixed by the update to pay the dealer for it.

Bob

Bob, LOP 18190402 has been available for non TSB flashes for at least a year. You still have to have the 3 C's.

Dealer denial

Just picked up my 08 from being serviced. I asked him if he could do anything about the rotten milage, an ECU reflash or what ever. He said that they usually wouldn't do anything before 10k miles. Then he went on to say that there weren't any reflashes availible for the 08s.

Had mine in for a 10K oil change before my trip to TX to pick up farm equipment and haul it back to NM. Asked service writer about reflash to improve mileage. He said he'd check. Got the truck back with AX update! It was listed as TSB/recall on the service ticket??

Anyway, already seems a bit smoother. Can't wait to see if I get a mileage improvement like most others have reported, especially with $3. 90 gal diesel... .

He's full of it then, I had my '08 in for CEL and TPS lights the end of December. They did a reflash from AC to AM and it is itemized on my receipt!

There are updates for the 08 depending on currently loaded software, but the reality is the 6. 7 is a larger displacement loaded down by heavy emmision requirements and ulsd has less btu's per lb than our dirty old #2. Any gains will be minor,so far all the flashes have been to get a hold on soot production and regen controlling.

And how I wish they would get a good hold on it. My dad is driving my truck until I go to Az to pick it up in June. The catalyst warnings come up quite often as he doesn't get it out on the highway that much and he just told me the CEL is on again. Pretty sure it's dirty O2 sensors just like last time. This keeps up and I'll be doing a DPF delete when I get the truck up north.
