i just picked up a 01 2500 2wd. the only thing is the vp-44 and the lift pump are not working so who would you recommend buying a VP-44 from? i live near austin,tx and i seen there was some one in S. A tx but don't know about them. but please any help as i am wanting to get this truck back on the road soon.

thank ya'll

has any one ever used diesel injection in San Antonio tx? i talked to them today they seemed like nice folks on the phone. just have not heard much talk about them.

I just put in a Blue Chip VP44 last week and it's made a tremendous difference in the performance of the truck. First time for me and it took about 4 hours. Very accurate remove/replace information from this forum. Great throttle response and much more power, it's quieter too. Blue Chip provided fine service and the pump is superior to the $1000. 00 types. They rebuild with new tolerance spec. Bosch parts and install a new computer, so it hasn't seen any heating cycles. They also clad the wear portions of the housing with steel so there is no degreadation from the motion of the piston. While they're a little more expensive at $1600. 00 I believe it will be worth the money spent in not having to do this job again (I have a new lift pump too). They also offer an "X" model which will provide HP increase at $1900. 00. I recommend them.

So, if a shop is a Bosch Certified rebuilder, then they rebuild to Bosch standards with Bosch parts. MWFI has a fair price, good service and does not charge you any core unless you fail to return the core. Very clean deal, as I stated above. SNOKING

I know that Blue Chip dimensions all their Bosh replacement parts to new specifications, not simply that allowed by in service tolerances, that and the new printed circuit (computer) is why I purchased their rebuilt VP44. Also, the core charge isn't charged for 30 days.

This is just my opinion and what has worked for my truck.

Cheers

Greetings, I'm new to the forums and I have been reading a lot about the vp44 on this site. Now here is the stupid question. What is a vp44??? Thanks, John

Thanks guys for all the info. got a question for ya'll what are the chances of a vp not being bad and only set a code due to a lift pump going out? i replaced the LP and got the truck back up and running. Checked for codes and 216 was there i erased the codes and drove it for two days and checked it again. PASSED no codes what do ya'll think?

it may last a while but will eventually need a new 44. if the LP fails the diaphram in the VP will crack and eventually fail.

From the FAQ section and TMTT's Code list; https://www.turbodieselregister.com...ine-transmission-faq/96634-24v-code-list.html

"P0216 (M) Fuel Injection Pump Timing Failure High fuel supply restriction, low fuel pressure or possible wrong or incorrectly installed pump keyway. "

The VP44 is wounded, and the timing system is not going full travel. It's time to budget for a new pump. The old will still run the truck for a while, Maybe a day or maybe for a year  Do get a Fuel Pressure gage and/or a warning light.

As far as replacements go, I am happy with my II pump. Moose Oo.

Reset the Codes

How do you reset/erase the codes?

Thanks

Let's see to get the MIL (Check engine light. ) to go out 15-20 starts. To reset the codes, a code reader with a erase button, or a Smarty (You don't need to unlock the VIN to scan another truck). Moose
