I'm having more fits understanding the Smarty S06 with Revo...

If I want to "adjust options" such as torque management or rail pressure instead of the running the default values, do I need to adjust these options BEFORE loading up the Catcher SW# or can I adjust these after?

I downloaded the Catcher SW first and Smarty requested I turn key off then press >, turn key on then press >, turn key off and unplug Smarty. This sequence takes up to a minute to perform. Then I adjusted the two options listed above and Smarty said update complete w/o cycling the key off/on/off and it never asked to be unplugged. So, I'm thinking I only updated the Smarty and not the truck with the adjustments.

The instructions are not clear or I'm just the dumbest person on the TDR...

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Louis

Louis,
you need to adjust the options before the actual download to the ECM.
Adjust options, Smarty stores them as your preferences and will apply those to the next download(s). If you want to change the options, well same as above.....

Makes sense?

Marco, thank you for the explanation! Yes, it makes sense now.

I sure would like to know more about the different settings w/o giving away too much info to your competitors.

For example, how much more rail pressure do the #2 thru #4 settings give and how does that help with EGT, power, economy, etc?

Or, if all I do is tow the 5er, can I use timing #4 with my aftermarket injectors? I want the lowest EGTs and best possible fuel economy, not necessarily the most power. What does the timing do... lower EGTs, improve mpg's, etc?

I just want a better explanation or some theory behind the different settings.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm very pleased that these are available to adjust, but I want more info so I can make an intelligent, reliable choice.

So here is the $1M question... if you were going to tow over 10k, what adjustable settings would you use for reliable power, no smoke, lower EGTs and best possible fuel economy with aftermarket KAX 80hp injectors... no drag racing, no stump pulling, no daily driving, just towing.

Thanks and regards,

Louis
