Thought I would share this with everybody... You know it is a sad state of affairs when you get excited as diesel prices approach under $4. 00 a gallon.

Spent less than 100 bucks for a fill up today:eek:

Found this in Richmond, VA

What is so freaking SAD is that diesel is still over 50 cents a gallon HIGHER than gasoline. We have such backwards thinking in this country. In Europe (where diesel is not DAMNED and efficiency is encouraged), diesel is LESS than gasoline... .

Makes no sense.

So I find it at $4. 09 last week and get about 20 gallons. While filling I snap a pic of the pump display and send it to 3 friends with diesels in excitement. The irony here is that I sent the same 3 a pic of a pump display that was $4. 09 a few months prior in disgust.

Then Sunday I get it at $3. 99 by the house and a PSD pulls in. The guy looks at the pump and then at me and says "Wow! Fuel for $4! Isn't that stupid to be excited about?"

It's still hanging around $4. 49 here in western PA. But, I did fill up in Carlisle yesterday for $4. 17.

Lowest price I could find around here was $4. 23 today @ local Flying J. All the Shell stations I passed listed Diesel around $4. 45.

That just puts another nail in the coffin for my shell card which I have not used in many months. I've been thinking of cutting my credit in half and sending it to Shell with a nasty note enclosed. :#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!

I'm sick and tired of the shell game the stations are playing. Who ever has the lowest price gets my cash... ...

Where I live, there is a Sinclair station selling Diesel for $4. 25. 9/Gal. Down the road a block a "Phillips" station is selling at $4. 79. 9/Gal.

Although Fuel prices have come down, here where I live, the prices are higher than nearly everywhere else in the Country.

Every time we go through Utah, diesel prices are as much as Washington, Oregon and California. Are fuel taxes in Utah as high as those other states?

Just went down $. 02 from yesterday to $3. 83 here in Germantown,Md. Gas is at $3. 59 if you pay cash!!I don't get it... . we usually have the highest prices around in the DC Metro area, but I'm not going to complain.

i bought diesel at a small mom and pop store early last week, for 3. 87 a gallon. the mans gas price's were very similar to everyones else's, but his diesel was way cheaper. the cheapest diesel at any other station in town was 4. 19. keep in mind all theese station are on high to mildly traveled highways. finally after about 11 days [i was told by a friend who lives next to the mom and pop], the bigger high volume stations finally dropped the prices to 3. 99, this past saturday. talk about takeing advatage of a situation.

There is one Cheveron station right off the freeway from me that, when everyone else was 4. 50, this guy had diesel for 5 something.

Still he has business

Europe's take on diesel is correct, but the $1. 50/gal. lower price is taxpayer subsidized. I'm hoping we subsidize algae diesel technology, which has tremendous potential. $4. 05 here today and I'm going to top off as this thing in Russia-Georgia is spooking me.
