I installed the Amsoil remote oil filter kit about two months ago. Yesterday when i started my truck a warning light flashed reading check gauges. I looked around and noticed that my oil pressure was still at zero. I restarted the truck and it was fine. This happened to me on two other occassions also. Has anyone else had this scary experience and what could it be?

I just put in a mechanical oil press gauge and it is very enlightening to watch that gauge as you drive. That factory isn't a gauge, it's just and idiot light. But no oil pressure is no oil pressure. I'd get a mechanical gauge, dash mount or test gauge, and test it before driving it. The stock gauge could be right. I'd bet the your gauge is wrong, but I'd be sure.

You could be right. Iguess i have to find a home for an oil gauge.

Did you install the dual remote? If so then you installed the wrong setup. The 03+ ECU's do not like the dual remote, as you have seen. You need to take it off and put a single bypass on and leave the full flow in the OE location.

Yep, I have an email from Amsoil Tech stating that if I can find it.

Yep, it has a 6psi pressure switch. Once it sees that it makes the gauge read where you think it should be based on temp and RPM. Not a actual gauge by any means

Thanks guys. Why don't the Amsoil people tell you that when you buy it and they even ask for the truck year?... ... ..... Better yet, I have searched some old threads and found a lot of info on this case. I have only experienced this three times and for a split second. My oil pressure has not dropped at all while running. Will it get worse in the winter? Is there something i can do to mod this kit and fix the problem if there even is one? I will call Amsoil on Monday but in the mean time please help? Thank you in advance.

Its only an issue at start up. I am not sure why amsoil didn't catch it, but its on there website. Thou with the redesigned website, its not as easy to find... . actually I can't find it at all. What kit do yo have the 15 or 25? It looks like the redesigned 25 works on all 5. 9 and 6. 7's...

Better yet, where did you mount it? I had a hard enough time mounting my single EaBP110.

I mounted mine in back of the passanger side front bumper. My kit is the 15 and i'm pretty sure that it is the new one because it doesn't say Amsoil on it. My hoses are also very short so i don't think that it is a too long of a hose issue. I have such a nice home for it i'd hate to take it out.

The new one is the 25, which regulates oil flow to the bypass differently and may not have the issue?? Better call amsoil.

Sorry, Iam 99% sure that i have the 25. I will find out on monday. I did not order this part it was a gift, but according to someone i spoke to i have the adapter which spinns to face the hoses any way where the old oil filter was. Supposedly this is the indicator that it is a 25. I think that i am going to speak to someone at Amsoil on Monday and also install a real oil pressure gauge and go from there. If i don't see pressure at start up with a real gauge, than it is pretty obvious what has to be done.

Thanks for all your help everyone and if you have any more input please let me know.

Thank YOU.

Finally i have decided to get rid of the dual remote and go with the single-21. The deciding factor was the fact that my oil pressure gauge was going haywire for close to 30 seconds before it cleared up. It did not happen very often on one truck but on the other truck it happened every start up. I think that even 20 seconds is too long and i did not feel comfortable with it.

I have to praise AMSOIL for the time they put into this in trying to resolve the situation. I did not want to take it off of my truck but i was at a dead end. They are taking back both dual remote kits, and sending me two new single kits with all accessories free of charge. Awasome customer service, and i am very happy to recommend them too anyone. Thank you Brandon.

I just added an oil psi gauge to my truck. I have a EaBP110 getting oil from the 1/8 port on the filter. I am reading pressure on the opposite side of the block near the OE oil psi sender. By the time I crank and my gauge comes on line I have 60+ psi of pressure... 2-3 seconds...

AH64ID, Did you put an oil pressure sending unit on the intake side of the engine??? If so where? Any pictures? Any help would be nice. Dave

Yes. . Just above the ECM is a M10. 0x1. 0 plug that I put a metric to JIC adapter, then 18" of hose, then the sender. .

The fitting in the block.

I tryed looking for an oil presure gauge to match my existing gauges by Dipricol and i can't find one. Can you use a fuel pressure gauge for the oil? I don't see why not they are both fluid pressure?

AH64ID, Can you please clarify what JIC stands for in regards to the fitting in the block? Also where did you get a metric connector? I checked Lowes here and Summit Racing. They both have a plethora of SAE fittings but no metric. Thank you for the excellent photograph. Is this thing a bear to get to?

No idea what JIC stands for (neither does my dad who has used it for 30 years)... (google says Joint Industrial Council)... Its a very common high pressure fitting, while not needed on our oil pressure gauge... . I got all my hoses, fittings, and connectors at my local parker store.

It's also commonly referred to as an "AN" fitting, or 37° flare fitting.
