Came across an ad for a 2001 RAM 2500 diesel with 80340 miles and asking $4,350. 00. The seller sent me some pictures and the truck looks clean. What do you think about this deal ?

If there are no mechanical problems then that is a smoking deal. Is it a 4X4. Body and interior look cherry. I guess the only way to be sure is to check it out in person, sometimes pictures don't show all. Are you sure it wasn't $14,350 instead of $4,350?

Yes I asked them three times to make sure on the price. I just found this out from the seller that they will pay for shipping and giving me 7 days to decide if I want it or not. Am I being to paranoid on this being to good of an offer ? Funny thing is I stumbled across this ad on Craig's list while I was looking for something else and caught my interest. :))

Personally, I wouldn't exchange any money until I had the opportunity to fully check it out. It sounds strange that they would be willing to pay for shipping. Seems like they could sell it pretty quick locally for that price. Maybe it was in a flood or accident.

usually the scamers try to get full price, but I'd certainly check it out before laying out $$$$$. Is it very far from you. perhap a TDR member would look at it for you.

I see that the lighter is missing, that must be it . LOL

good luck

That is a typical Craigs List scam. I just had a deal like that on a John Deere tractor I found on Craigs List, guess how much the Russian scammer wanted for a $17K tractor..... $4100. I got all excited because it was supposedly local to me and I emailed him back before I had time to think it out. His reply email told the entire story. SCAM.

These two postings hit a chord with me. We have many members all over. Heck I have driven quite a ways to help out folks and I'm sure others would to.

Thanks for all of the replies. Personally I think this is to good to be true !!! From what I understand the truck is in Kentucky (where I don't know). Right now I am content on the 1996 12v I have and does what I need to do for now. :)

Here is the email I received.

Hi again,

The truck is already at the shipping company ready for the shipping. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. I'm very busy with my job and I'm left out of town so I can't meet in person with you. That's the reason i'm selling my truck over the internet. According with eBay you have 7 days to inspect the truck and decide if you want to keep it or not. The shipping will take 3-5 days. I will pay all the shipping fees and insurance for the transport.

Here is how it will work:

1. If you want to start with the deal i need this information from you.

- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address

2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will give you all the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4. eBay will contact me and I will ship the truck to you. After you receive the truck you will have 7 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the truck. If you'll buy, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.
5. If you'll decide that you will not buy the truck, eBay will refund the money and I will have the shipping company come pick up my truck. If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so that
we can proceed. I look forward to hear from you

Oh man that bites. We use to have a 4230 and sure could use something like that on the property we bought last year.

Yes I was thinking the same thing maybe flood or accident. Where are you located in the Sierras if you don't mind me asking ?

I live in Bishop, California. It's a small tourist town on the East side of the Sierras. Not many jobs but the fishing is good.

Here's a few of the reasons why I live here:

walk away, sorry, I meant RUN. The whole "send me your info and then I'll send it to Ebay" part would make me nervous. Plus, your 96 12 valve probably has fewer issues than a VP44, weak trackbar, weak steering box, poor lift pump, death wobble 2001 has. Do I sound bitter:confused: Mine's all fixed now, but I've probably put in an addtional $2000 to get it there.

Never have had the death wobble. What does it take to provoke a death wobble?

What parts should I check?

I know it has been covered before... but I already have a DSS.

This can't be legit. The shipping costs alone would eat up a fair amount of his asking price. No one in their right mind would offer to ship it at their cost across the country. Even the new car dealers charge you freight. And the to pay for the return trip if you don't like it? No way. I'm in the trucking business and I can tell you this wouldn't fly. I suppose if he has a contract with eBay you could ask him his screen name there and check his feedback. I'm sure you'd come up with nothing.

Hey, look at the email reply I got back about the tractor, looks familiar huh. :-laf

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my 2000 John Deere 790. I'm selling at this price ($4,100. 00 US) because i just finished a divorce with my husband. When the divorce was finished i owned this tractor. As a women i don't need it. This tractor is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title. From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services.

We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20. 000. The final price that I want for this tractor is $4,100. 00 US including shipping and handling.

I will not negotiate the price. I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the tractor, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions. So if you are interested please e-mail me back for more details about the transaction.
