Well, I put a new FASS on the shop truck a while back. It got a few hundred miles put on and was stolen. It was recovered in "not so good condition". :eek:

Anyway, the FASS pump is back where the dually fender is, hose is'nt melted, no signs of heat, looks OK. This almost new pump can be mine if i want.

I'm wondering how heat sensitive the FASS is, is it even worth my time to remove? Should I send it back to have it checked?

Whadayathink?

Wow!!! It appears the front tire is partially burnt. If so it was a HOT fire! I am amazed the dually fender did not melt. I would tell your buddy to guarantee it for the balance of the factory warranty. Yep, pull it off and hook it up to 12 volts to see if it will run. If it sounds fine then go for it.

Godspeed,
Trent

I guess since I dont really have anything in it I really cant go wrong, huh?

Oh yes, the fire was very hot. Could be a fuel hose melted early on and sprayed a bunch of fuel. Given the circumstances, fire might not have been an accident.

ANd here's a real kick in the face. I put this VP on at the sme time as the FASS. It's got like 500 miles on it. :{

Not sure, I'm kinda out of that loop. I replaced the dead VP & installed new fass as a "side job" to save some $$ for the company. Before I got paid, the truck was robbed (with a trailer load of eqiupment). They crashed thru two chained gates made of chain-link fence, I wonder if the hood didn't short on a battery. I'm not even aware weather the truck was found on fire or after the fact (it had to be lit for a while, the side window glass is melted into puddles at the bottom of the doors). It was only gone about a week if I remember right before it was found. It was on an impound lot for about 4 months, till last week. As I speculated above, given the circumstances, it was probably not an unintetional fire.

I've been in limbo on my deal for all this time, and at this point I told the branch MGR that if that FASS was good, I'd sooner have that than the cash they were going to give me.

Yup! We were away over the weekend, it was waiting for me at home. Now I just have to find time to get it on the truck... ...
