2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission receiver for security lock/unlock?

Where exactly is the security system receiver located in the '02 trucks? I had sorta thought it, or some of the parameters, might be in the ECM - but have had several different ones installed, and the remote key fob lock/unlock worked fine with all of them.



Same question as to the odometer mileage storage - several different ECM's all still displayed the same miles on truck - is that data in the PCM instead?

The security system is part of the central timer module located next to the steering column under the dash.
The speedometer is controlled by the PCM.
