2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission front seat repair for old, sagging seat????

What are you guys doing (short of replacing the whole seat) when your drivers seat starts to wear out?



I have a 01 and the driver seat is starting to sag, for lack of a better term. The door side of the seat bottom cushion kind of leans towards the door and the seat is just not as firm and comfortable as it once was. Doesnt help that my 220lbs butt sits on it every day, LOL.



What are some cheap and easy fixes, if any? I seem to remember an inflatable seat cushion, I think was made by Hawk? a while back. Was thinking about that with a new seat cover over that.



The upholstery is in pretty good shape, short of some minor dirty and wear but it is re-usable. What are my options in this hard economic time, LOL???

What I did was ... . remove the seat bottom, On the bottom of the seat is the wire cover to hold the cushion in. . I just got some more foam padding, on yours you might want to shape it for the side, put a indoor/outdoor carpet over the padding and reinstall the wire cover. . you will find that you will have more firmness and support.

I just had mine done a year ago by a professional. New cover and wahtever was wrong in it and it was only 150$.

There was a complete write up in the TDR, don't remember which issue but as stated, remove the cushion, unlatch the cover. Get some SEAT foam, its a little fermer than the regular foam. I used some sprayed glue to hold in position and replaced the cover. I believe the article was by Coyle, rest his soul.

Not hard just time consuming.

I took out the broken wires & cut a piece of 3/16" Lexan to put in the bottom of the base under the foam- it's held up well for 7 or 8 years now.

my foam was replaced and the seam started to open up, It was sewed before it became a problem. Seats look great, but the material is wore off the armrest...

I took out the broken wires & cut a piece of 3/16" Lexan to put in the bottom of the base under the foam- it's held up well for 7 or 8 years now.

I think mine is starting to sag a little and I think this would be an excellent solution. Sounds like it holds up well. How thick is the lexan?
