?Buy factory tach?

Found a factory tach in our TDR classified. Should I buy it? Pros and cons please... :-{} He's asking $350. 00

The factory tach is nice. Fits right, looks good and the wiring plugs in under the dash. But they are pricey, i've seen 'em sell on Ebay for $290-$400. They're discontinued now, so whatever is left out there is all there is.

350. 00? I would personally save the 200. 00 and buy an ISSPRO for 150. 00 that plugs into that same plug under your dash.



What most folks do anyway. Use that 200 you saved and put it towards a couple other gauges and a clever mount.

Yep, save the bucks and buy a mounting cup like the factory and have a better deal for less money.

Where can a person buy one of these "factory looking" mounting cups? I am looking to mount my Isspro tach the same way as the factory one.

Thanks for the links Dad's been wanting a tach for his 93, but i never could bring myself to pay $300+ for a used one. I think i'm goin Isspro too :-laf

I got the U-bolts from the spring company I went through to get the frontend lifted. They make U-bolts and other suspension parts.

Tach model # w/3-wires...

Greenleaf do you know the ISSPRO model # of the tach that has the 3-wires that will connect into the OEM connectors under the dash? Thanks for the great recommendations everyone

There are a number of tachs that will work. You will need the 4 thousand RPM unit in white or black face. Some are flat glass while others are curved. The EV is the curved face glass. Now they even have the EV II series.



I have installed the 5503 and I believe they are still available. Curved glass (EV) w/ black face. I don't know if the flat glass 8503 (flat glass black face) is still aound.



A white face with curved glass is the 6503. They work well but I didn't like the white face and installed this into another persons truck.



You will need the Dodge/Cummins wire harness. R8912-92



I have read that this harness kit is the magnetic kit for 1989/1990 trucks, but I have installed all these myself and still have the paperwork from ISSPRO to use as reference for all my part numbers. (I'm not some guy typing in a series of part numbers from memory )
