just wanted to see what everyone is using... I was usinf amsoil, then switched to Rotella after poor oil analysis. it seems to test better on the rottela. so what are you running???

Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme (5w40 synthetic) since 20k miles on the clock (70k now), used Delo dino oil the first 20k while breaking in. Samples always come back great.

either rotella t or 15-40 from caterpillar... i get the cat oil in 5 gallon buckets from the dealer at half the cost of rotella

Putting in Amsoil 15-40 tonight in the new to me truck! Don't have a clue whats in it now or how long it's been there.

These threads are fine, so everybody can boast and brag... ... ... ... .....

But where's the conclusion... ... ... ... ..... maybe at a site like Bob, The oil guy?????

I'm just a newbie owner with a used 305 H. O. wanting the best bang for the buck product that I can change regularly... .....

Here to learn... ... ... ... .

Conclusion for me to use Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme was based on the fact that Cummins developed the oil with Valvoline. Guess it gives me a warm & fuzzy feeling seeing the Cummins "C" and endorsement on the bottle.

IF your here to learn... then use what God gave you, your brain. All the replies I've read to your question answered quite clearly. I my case, fifteen years and almost 200,000 miles and no problems. That must mean Rotella has worked just great for me and many others. Some of the other oils were not even made yet when I started using Rotella in Dec. 1994 when I did my 1st oil change in my then new CTD diesel Dodge Ram 2500. Hope this helps you out!

I started using Rotella 15W-40 and would switch to Rotella 5W-40 Synthetic for the winter months. Did this for two years and then went to Valvoline Premium Blue 15W-40 until CJ-4 came out. Now I use Valvoline Premium Blue Classic 15W-40 which is CI-4+ (probably the best for the 2003 H. O. ). Hope I can still get it as I bought 15 gallons about a year ago and only put about 9,000 miles a year on my rig. I've done oil samples all along with no issues.
