What Oil do you use in your cummins?

Valvoline Premium Blue since new, 1st change at 3500 miles, 2nd at 7500 miles and 7500 mile intervals after the first two changes. I am now at 40K, oil sample done at every oil change, all have been good, actually excellent.



Since I do all my own maintenance I did the oil samples so I would know what was going on with my truck AND also to have information regarding my maintenance from an outside source in case I have any warranty issues during the 100K warranty.



Everything else has Amsoil in it. I HAVE considered going to the Amsoil in the engine as well. May do that when I run out of the cases of VPB I have on hand.



By the way, I am also running an oil bypass filter that gets changed at 15K intervals-every other oil change.

FOURBARR has the most convincing post. Almost 500K and no oil use between change. I use Delo 400 and must be the only one. WalMart seems to always have Rotella 15-40W a little cheaper than most. Might just give it a try. Of course I seldom drive my diesel now days and for the last two years have only put 3500 miles on it.

i use john deere 15/40 and lucas additive. lucas is the key!!!

delo 400 is ok too, its made by chevron corp, which actually makes alot of oils, many companys buy their base stock and additive packages from chevron.

Ditto-I do the same. Everything I own down to the mower has Amsoil in it.

At the moment I've got 1 gallon of Rotella 15w-40, 1 gallon of Delo 400 15w-40, and 1 gallon of Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w-40.

I'm getting 43 mpg and last week I dynoed at 892 hp with no mods!

[Seriously, I'm using up my stock of CI-4+].
