i would like comments on updated flashing. I have an 02 auto with 20k. i bought it new and it,s never been to the shop. I also have the extended 7 yr warrenty which will expire in oct of this year. Is a computer reflash a good thing and will the dealer give me any hassell?:-{} will a reflash screw up my engine preformance?

I don't think a reflash will hurt your performance any. I certainly would not have it done at a dealer though. Find someone in your area with a Smarty and have them reflash it for you. I loaned my Smarty to a buddy a year or two back. He had stock/original software at the time and afterwards he said it ran better than before. Smarty does not save off your original software but rather has built in all the latest and greatest software code for each year, model, trans type of truck combination. When you set back to "stock" with Smarty you are actually getting the newest software - or at least a lot newer software than what you had originally. I wouldn't expect a huge difference though. Hopefully someone else can chime in with the actual benefits of the newer softwares.

I don't understand why you would want a computer reflash. The extended warranty is not going to pay for it anyway.

20k??

You need to let me borrow it for a while and at least get the paint burnt off the exhaust manifold. :-laf:-laf:-laf

I had my 01 flashed by the dealer for the high idle program and it affected nothing else but that. No noticeable changes except for the ones I was expecting. Other than that, I'm not sure why you'd want to so long as it's running well.

thanks for the info all the replies are appreciated. I,ll look for a smarty guy or buy one for myself, The 20K wasn,t by design I bought it to travel in but things changed quickly after I retired, traded my golf clubs for a weed wacker and never had time to look back. I do have a sweet 93 I like to drive, its shorter and I have a tonau cover on it and it just turned 80K , I stay buisy doing projects the tdr members lead me into, I have both the 02 and the 93 in pieces trying to get them back together . when i go for parts many times i,m told "we can get it in 3 to 7 days, maybe ,ok ,so does ya wants me should i order it for ya? Must be ford guys. so i reply ,ru nah i tink ill jus drive to the city and get it today. Living in obscurity has its good points though. thanks members.
