I'm hoping someone can help confirm that a lift pump sounds like my problem, I just searched through old posts, but can't seem to find anyone with symptoms exactly like mine.
As best as I can tell, my truck willl ocassionally die if the pedal is allowed to return to the idle position, regardless of whether that's at 60mph on the interstate or stopped at a light. Once it dies, I could either compression start it if I was rolling, or it would take 3-4 cranking cycles to get it to start again. I managed to limp it home by keeping it always off idle.
Does this sound like a lift pump problem? I've had the truck for 6 years and 87k miles and have never replaced the lift pump, from what I have gathered, this sounds like I may be living on borrowed time. Can someone confirm that this sounds like a lift pump before I start throwing parts at it?
Thanks!
