It's clear the first one occurred only because the truck had srw. And the second one was a dually but only a Ferd so that doesn't count. A drw Ram would not have slid into the lake.

Are you talking about he guy in the canopy video above, JHawes? The question was about that incident at the bank drive through in hopes the other guy from the mountaineering expedition could rest in peace awhile... This is also much funnier, but only because there were no innocent folks in the other lanes at the time. I don't feel sorry for the driver of the 5th wheel one bit.

This is a very bad marked road the state should had marked it better. I live only 30 miles from there and it is not marked. The state needs to pay for this and mark it.

My heart wasn't really in it but I figured you might be baiting me a little and I should at least respond.

If I had been trying I would have claimed the opposite . . . that the greater traction provided by the dually would have allowed the driver to pull through w/o wheel spin and the canopy would have only hit the fifth wheel trailer saving the truck.

The bank canopy accident must have happened in Lubbock. I see drivers in Lubbock all the time with that level of brain power and driving skill.

I would have to be up pretty early and be feeling pretty cocky to yank your chain, Harvey... That could mean risking a torpedo from the depths. Submariners wrote the Book on sneaky dirty tricks and payback.

But all else being equal, you need to refigure: Spreading the same weight over twice the area gives you half as much psi on the ground. Half the psi equates to half the coefficient of friction (traction) in this quick 'n dirty model. That is why lightly loaded duallies are so prone to getting stuck (that and getting wedged in at drive up windows :-laf ).
