Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Cold Weather Problem

Well it's not shifting. It will make 1-2 ok but shifts hard at high rpms with no more shifts.

I bought new solenoids and replaced the the one you can see but could not find the other one thought I had the wrong one. Now I'm finding out it's behind the valve body. Any info on location would be appreciated.

I'm hoping this cures the transmission.

I have had problems with the truck for a while. It's a 02 3500 sport 2wd auto with 240,000 miles. And I've drove it like I stole since new. It has the dead peddle. It has for about 130,000 miles and three years. Shortly after the solenoids went out the first time at 90,000.

The dealer replaced them the first time. The problem then the trans would act up after about a 60 mile trip it would take that long for it to act up. It would stay in high gear at a stop then a couple of seconds later unload to first and jump. Dealer replaced the solenoids an great for a while.

Then I started getting the dead peddle I chased everything trying to find it not wanting to replace the vp. most sensors TPS and such. with no luck. I just got used to the problem.

mornings or cold start no peddle for the first five minutes and temperature related, in colder seasons it takes longer in warmer weather shorter time. I have to take the long way out of the neighborhood before I have full power. I can cut the time in half by driving for half the distance and killing the truck and restarting and it comes back to life. Once the time is up it runs great until.....

I hit 55mph it goes dead between 55-60mph depending on outside temperature. In the heat(above 110*) a few times it has happened at 35-40mph but very few. In the cold (below 40*) it will do it between 65-70mph. Always at those speeds exactly. When it happens if I let off the fuel for 3 seconds and the give it fuel again and it takes off. If it goes below 55 or above 60 it picks back up. It will accelerate through 55-60 just fine just will not hold that speed without the dead peddle. I can floor it and it will down shift and take off also. It has done this for about 130,000 miles.

Now it will not shift into high gear I can live with the peddle but I got to get the trans to shift.

Oh btw great site and sorry for the long post.

sounds like u and i are having very similar issues. my post is titled "throttle response/ shifting issues. if i find out any info i will pass it along. check my post for possible help. good luck. this place is great for folks helping each other out

Yeah it's been bad for a couple of years now just more of a pita than anything, already been over 100,000 miles on it bad. I don't think it will quit working it's as bad as it get's. no change in two years. Edit: three years I became a member a couple of months after it started.

It might of killed the transmission.

The transmission problem is new. I'm to the point where I have to get my truck running. I'm thinking of trying to rebuild the solenoids any ideas. ? Don't have enough $$ for dealer parts right now and can't afford another internet scam. Any advice?

Oh another Fl. co. I'm scared of any transmission parts that come from there. lol This is the first time I have ever been scammed on the internet. They still have that site up too. They have a bunch of different names if FL. for transmission shops.

I came across a post that might be like mine. Dead pedal issue not trans.

Trying to find more info think I might just have to trace all electrical.
