While we read many problems or issues from time to time, I just want to send a high note! My 06 4x4 3500 DRW Laramie QC auto is just a great truck. I just returned with my 15,000lb fifth wheel from a 1600 mile trip. It just ran great plain and simple at 48,000 miles. Totally stock except for a K&N, I got 11 mpg at 70mph on Interstate 95 from PA to South Carolina. It has never been flashed, I guess there were no flashes? That's it, just happy with my 2nd Cummins!

It is nice to hear a good word for our beloved cummins dodges.
I complain often about my 06 but overall it is a great truck so far.
Never been back to see dealer since it left new.
No flashes.
All work is done in the driveway by me.
And the mpg 16-17 around town is dead on with what my old 96 got.

Since we're on the 06 i guess i'll chime in. 148,000 and haven't changed a thing other than routine maintenance and things like the fuel pump which i just swapped only because i wanted to upgrade. I love my truck just as much as my wife and that's a lot. I just put on a set of Vision 19. 5's i want to post some pics in the next day or two.

I have an 03 that last winter I took a longe trip out west to CA and all over AZ NM. I put 6. 788 miles on her and the round trip I got 12. 9 miles per gal. My weight was 22. 900+ I know of no ford or Chevy that will do that.

That is Good to hear, I just picked up a 06 3500 Dually over the weekend myself, it has 11,000 miles on it. I Love this Truck and the Cummins. I am looking forward to many trouble free miles.

I've had the same experience with my 05 Dodge/Cummins 6 speed standard. It went on an 11K mile round trip to Alaska with my, then, Lance camper without any problems. Averaged 13. 5 mpg. Planning on doing the same trip towing our new Arctic Fox 5er soon. My 95 was just as good. It also made the same Alaska trip.

I wish I could get 16/17 mpg around town empty. How do you do it? Even my 95 couldn't do it.

I'm having a blast with my 06 Mega. Hand calc'd 18. 5 average over mixed driving. Slowly doing mods one by one. Even the maintenance is fun. Each job is an opportunity to improve something. 45K on the rig so far. Totally reliable.

Only have 30K on mine. . but I love it. I am figuring that at some point, I will lose the 48RE... . but I'm prepared for it. If nobody has figured out how to put the 6-speed auto behind the 5. 9l by then, I will just send my trans. to Gorend.

I know the 6. 7l is probably a good engine, but I really have no plans to upgrade to it due to the emissions complications. .

I love my '06... .

consider yourself lucky, my '06 has been a piece of crap, 5k in repairs in the last 2 years, ball joints, tie rod ends, u joints, carrier bearing all replaced by 70k, now at 78k I have a problem shifting out of park, which is a problem with the valve body in the transmission, everytime I take the truck in for an oil change something else needs to be fixed, couple that with the crappy awefu,l work truck looking, rain water staining, canvas seat material and the plastic on the dash and door panel that scratches with your fingernail. oh yeah the leather peeled off my steering wheel by the time I was at 60k, at this point I am thinking anything but dodge it can't get any worse, all this coming from a guy who has only driven dodge cummins trucks of various models for the last 15 yrs, this truck is the worst so far.

im on my third engine and second trans and second transfer case in 72000 miles, i abused it pretty bad and lost the first engine at 50k of course at nowhere close to stock, this truck is pretty tough.

My 99 had a K&N for 185,000 trouble free miles with great oil analysis reports.

My 06 filter minder pulls in after a week or so after installing a new paper filter.

This 06 sucks in air big-time and the filter minder does not move at all. The paper filter doesn't cut it. This 06 also gets great oil analysis reports. If I drove in high dust areas maybe I would stick with paper, but in eastern Pennsylvania it is only filtering leaves and snowflakes.

Either you have beat the c--- out of it, or you got a lemon. Claim it on the Lemon Law.
